My four chickens have grown. They look healthy. Two months ago, I bought the chickens from a pet store. They were still very little. Now, my chickens have been “Teenagers” LOL. Taking care of the chickens is not difficult. I just need to be patient to clean the cage and the area everyday. Every morning, I take out the chickens. I let them play.
After a few hours, I put all the chickens in the coop or cage because there are some wild chickens “Owned by neighbors but they are freely released”. Now, I have used food combination. 1/3 is vegetable waste, 1/3 rice waste, and 1/3 factory made chicken food. With this composition I can save 70% cost.
Now, I buy 1 kilo of factory chicken food for a week. It means that I just spend IDR 11,000. Though the body of the chickens is getting bigger, the consumption of factory made chicken food decreases. The factory made chicken food is for boosting appetite. My chickens will eat hungrily the food composition that I make.
The age of my chickens is 7o days. It means 10 weeks. The theory said that layer chickens will lay eggs at the age of 16 to 18 weeks. It needs 6 to 8 more weeks so I can harvest the eggs.
When I can harvest the eggs, I think it is a kind of playing game. Yeah.. it is real harvest moon game in life. The price of an egg is around $ 0.15 or IDR 1,500. If I have 4 layers, those layers will lay 4 eggs everyday. 4 X 1,500 = 6,000. The cost of feeding chicken will be around 15,000 /week.
6,000 X 7 = 42,000. So , every week, I will earn 42,000 – 15,000 = 27,000.
With four chickens I will be predicted to earn IDR 2,7000 or around $1.9. I think it is still profitable. When all chickens have laid eggs, I can make graph if I breed more chickens. Now, the research is in process. I hope everything will go as well as I predict.
