Welcome to my blog fellow hivieans. Have you ever been a channel of blessing to someone? Well, today my story is all about being a channel of blessing to simple children in the mountains.
I mentioned in my previous blog that we are feeding children in the mountain of Jaguimit and that I will give an update on Samaritans Purse distribution.
Last Saturday was the day we were all waiting for. We received the boxes three weeks ago and scheduled the distribution last Saturday. It was also our year-end party for them before we took a vacation for two weeks.

Very early I woke up to attend a seminar for the next season of distribution. By the afternoon we prepared the food for the mothers, and for the kids, we ordered food from Chowking. We requested another vehicle to come with us to carry all the boxes, food, and chairs since we were not able to fit in our car and many members joined together with us.
By 1:00 pm we traveled to the venue together with the volunteers. By the time we reached the place, parents and children were there already patiently waiting. We did not waste our time, we arranged all the chairs and the food on the tables. Some kids carry the boxes from the vehicle to the place we had.

Some of our ladies arrange the children by age group. We started the program with a prayer and a song everybody knows then we had our storytelling. We distributed the food first and let them eat. After a few more minutes we prepared all the boxes and distributed them to everyone.
As we distributed the boxes the children were so excited to open them, at the count of 10 we opened the boxes all together. Faces of awe were seen in each child as they saw what was inside their boxes.

Smiles and shouts of joy fill the air even the parents are so happy seeing their children enjoying the gift they received. It was the first time to receive such a gift full of useful things. I cannot explain the feeling of joy inside of me as I see kids happily digging what are other surprises inside the box.

After ten minutes we let the parents come to their kids to keep the gifts inside. There were stuffed toys, bags, school supplies, water bottles, balls, and even soap and toothbrushes. There was this young girl who received 30 dollars.
We also distributed it here in our place. All in all, we served 120 children in different areas. It was a privilege to serve others and be a channel to someone. It was not an easy task, it cost a lot of strength and time, and much more money but the outcome was amazing.
