Greetings everyone! Today I'm pleased to respond to @tere.alv's invitation to the Contest: El Emprendedor que Hay en Mi to which I'd like to invite @ismaelgranados, @mike.cupcakes and @dayadam to share with us their experience in this wonderful world of entrepreneurship.

El largo camino de un emprendedor

Desde siempre he tenido el espíritu de una emprendedora. Cuando estaba en el colegio, tenía unos 14 años, hacía el material de apoyo para mis compañeros de clase y les cobraba en material y la mano de obra. Con este dinero mantenía la renta de mi teléfono mensual y podía comprar detalles para mi mamá y mis hermanas como flores y regalos.

Cuando salí del colegio, me tomé 1 año libre para luego iniciar en la universidad. Entonces mi emprendimiento fue de tareas dirigidas para un niño de segundo grado. Fue totalmente diferente a lo que venía haciendo ya que guíar a un niño en sus deberes escolares era toda una responsabilidad, pero fue un éxito ya que el niño mejoró mucho el rendimiento en la escuela e incluso en su hogar y esa satisfacción fue inigualable para mí.

The long road of an entrepreneur

I have always had the spirit of an entrepreneur. When I was in high school, I was about 14 years old, I made support material for my classmates and charged them for material and labor. With this money I was able to pay my monthly phone rent and I could buy gifts for my mom and sisters, such as flowers and presents.

When I got out of high school, I took 1 year off to start college. Then my venture was homework directed for a second grader. It was totally different from what I had been doing since guiding a child in his homework was quite a responsibility, but it was a success since the child improved a lot in school and even at home and that satisfaction was unmatched for me.

Después de ese año seguí con el material de apoyo pero para alumnos del liceo. Me fue muy bien con eso, tenía un ingreso constante y mi reputación en la comunidad se extendió tanto que una vez tuve un pedido de 20 carteleras informativas para la misma semana y fue un éxito total para mí. En otra oportunidad una profesora de la escuela llegó a buscarme para que le hiciera una cartelera de una de las fechas patrias y quedó tan encantada con mi trabajo que pusieron la cartelera en la entrada de la escuela y me sentí muy orgullosa de esto.

Una vez que me gradué de licenciada en administración, comencé a asesorar y preparar estudiantes para presentar sus tesis y proyectos científicos, esto era un trabajo bien pagado pero muy agotador ya que debía guiar a los alumnos hasta el día de la presentación de su trabajo y era una gran responsabilidad, pero siempre los grupos de estudiantes que preparé salieron muy bien en sus calificaciones.

After that year I continued with the support material but for high school students. I did very well with that, I had a steady income and my reputation in the community spread so much that once I had an order for 20 informative billboards for the same week and it was a total success for me. Another time a teacher from the school came looking for me to make a billboard for one of the national holidays and she was so pleased with my work that they put the billboard at the entrance of the school and I felt very proud of it.

Once I graduated with a degree in administration, I began to advise and prepare students to present their thesis and scientific projects, this was a well paid job but very tiring since I had to guide the students until the day of the presentation of their work and it was a great responsibility, but always the groups of students that I prepared did very well in their grades.

Luego de colegiarme cómo administradora certificada, instalé una oficina administrativo- contable en mi casa, ya que mientras cursaba mis estudios fui asistente contable y administradora de una cadena de tiendas en la localidad. En mi oficina tenía 4 clientes y me sentía muy satisfecha conmigo misma ya que estaba ejerciendo mi carrera y poniendo en práctica todo lo que aprendí en de todos los profesionales y empresarios con los que trabajé.

Hasta que llegó la hora de montar mi negocio propio. Registré mi firma personal y para el año 2016, con 27 años, tenía mi oficina y mi propia empresa a la que llamé Trazo Creativo, publicidad e inversiones. Para este negocio mi esposo puso el capital y yo compré máquinas para sublimar en tazas, en tela, máquina para hacer sellos, impresoras, fotocopiadora, plastificadora, anilladora y muchas de estas máquinas aún las tengo funcionales y en perfectas condiciones.

After becoming a certified administrator, I set up an administrative-accounting office in my home, since while I was studying I was an accounting assistant and administrator of a local chain of stores. In my office I had 4 clients and I felt very satisfied with myself since I was practicing my career and putting into practice everything I learned from all the professionals and businessmen I worked with.

Until it was time to set up my own business. I registered my personal firm and by 2016, at the age of 27, I had my office and my own company which I called Trazo Creativo, publicidad e inversiones. For this business my husband put the capital and I bought machines to sublimate on cups, on fabric, machine to make stamps, printers, photocopier, laminator, banding machine and many of these machines I still have them functional and in perfect condition.

Con este emprendimiento pude pagar mi viaje a Cuba y mis documentos legales para casarme en este país. Fue una maravillosa experiencia: hacer la inversión y luego tener mis clientes y poder ver las ganancias es algo que me hacía sentir realizada.

Desafortunadamente me enfermé y tuve que vender la mayoría de las máquinas y el emprendimiento quedo en pausa, tengo el registro y algunas cosas pero en este momento no cuento con el capital para volver a abrir este negocio.

Pero mi enfermedad no me detuvo para seguir emprendiendo, mientras recibía mi tratamiento de radioterapia hacía joyería de porcelana fría y la vendía entre mis compañeros de la sala de oncología. Ya tenía 1 año sin generar ingresos y me sentía incómoda conmigo misma, pero gracias al apoyo de varias personas pude emprender y reunir una parte para comprar mi computadora.

En la actualidad, tengo un proyecto para una marca de cupcakes, galletas y detalles. Me gustaría iniciar pronto y ya tengo algunas ideas pero no ha sido fácil, ya que he tenido que tomar cursos online de marketing por redes sociales, ya que desde el año 2016 no soy comerciante y desde ese tiempo hasta hoy las estrategias de mercado han evolucionado y cambiado totalmente. Poco a poco iré compartiendo algunos consejos para todos aquellos emprendedores que deseen iniciar.

Espero mi historia les sirva de reflexión y para saber que para ser un emprendedor solamente hacen falta la constancia y el esfuerzo para conseguir el éxito. Gracias por visitar mi publicación, nos vemos en una próxima oportunidad.

With this venture I was able to pay for my trip to Cuba and my legal documents to get married in this country. It was a wonderful experience: making the investment and then having my clients and being able to see the profits is something that made me feel fulfilled.

Unfortunately I got sick and had to sell most of the machines and the business was put on hold, I have the registration and some things but at this moment I don't have the capital to reopen this business.

But my illness did not stop me from continuing with my business, while I was receiving my radiotherapy treatment I made cold porcelain jewelry and sold it to my colleagues in the oncology ward. I already had 1 year without generating income and I felt uncomfortable with myself, but thanks to the support of several people I was able to start a business and raise a part to buy my computer.

Currently, I have a project for a brand of cupcakes, cookies and details. I would like to start soon and I already have some ideas but it has not been easy, as I have had to take online courses in social media marketing, since 2016 I am not a trader and from that time until today the market strategies have evolved and changed completely. Little by little I will be sharing some tips for all those entrepreneurs who want to start.

I hope my story will serve as a reflection and to know that to be an entrepreneur you only need perseverance and effort to achieve success. Thanks for visiting my publication, see you next time.
