Franchise versus Marketing License! Real Estate Letter Battle of the Day

Sometimes the letters and postcards we receive are from local independent investors and local real estate agencies. Sometimes, the letters are from national corporations. Today's battle is a little of both.
We have a franchisee letter versus an a marketing licensee letter.
Today's Battle is HomeVestors (franchisee) versus WeBuyHouses.com (licensee).
Round 1: HomeVestors opens with some fancy footwork and color presentation. There's a cute caveman and two call-to-actions with either call us today or save this with your important house papers. Pat has a printed signature on the letter. But HomeVestors may take some damage. Is Pat with the corporate (franchisor) or is Pat a local who has purchased a HomeVestors' franchise. We're not sure. There might be a low-blow warning from our referee.

Webuyhouses.com is shadowing HomeVestors. There's a lot of mimicking with similar bullet points and the same call-to-actions, but no caveman.

Jacob picks up a point with listing his local phone number, but there's definitely a stumble when we get a page not found message for his website! We did a quick review and WeBuyHouses is a marketing company that sells a license to individual investors to market specific areas.

Round 2: The bullet points are the jabs in this contest and both letters land the same blows.

  • No Real Estate agents means there's no commission (implied message agents are expensive, and not necessary).
  • Cash Offer implies both Pat and Jacob are ready to close, and both letters indicate that the buyer will pay all closing costs (implied message we have lots of money to buy your house and pay expensive attorneys)
  • Sell As Is- Don't worry about repairs, we buy it just like it is. (implied message your home probably isn't perfect, we don't care.)
  • Fast & Simple - Quick closing from either of our competitors today. (implied message - low stress, fast cash).
  • Round 2 looks like a even scoring from our judges. There's a lot of similarities here. Both had QR codes, similar language, and similar message.
Which one is our winner today? Somebody bought a franchise and somebody bought a license. Both are eager to buy a house. This one might be a draw but the homeowner is still the winner. Competition drives price!
