In my introductory journal I mentioned that we are farmers and I don’t ashamed that I am a son of a farmer. Farming is the one that serves us food in our table it also pay our monthly bills especially in schools expenses.
Yesterday was October 12, 2023. Me and my brother is in the school that time. Dad was the only one left at home. But he also just left the house in the morning because he said that the rice crops can now be harvested. In our town we are the luckiest barangay because government from above give us a “harvester”
Harvester is a machine that can automatically harvest the rice crops which it passes through. That's why it's so easy to harvest rice crops for us. Thanks to the great inventor of this machine.
This is our harvested rice seeds and we called it “erik”. I took that photo when I got home from school and I noticed why our harvested was so small it’s not as many as before. Then I said to my head maybe the harvest is really weak this year is just because there were so many typhoons arrive during its planting season.
Today is Friday, which is a day that we have no classes. This morning dad received a call from the harvester machine operator. They said that our harvested rice has been switch to other rice owner and told us that what we brought home was inaccurate in amount and the missing rice is still on the road waiting for us to pick it up.
We are so thankful that even it stays all night on the side of a road no one took it. That’s a lot of rice, we left almost 8 sacks of rice.
After picking it up , we put it in a net and sun dry it. Every hour we stir it so the rice seeds will be dried perfectly. We dried 6 sacks per batch and it took us 2-4 days drying under the Sunday every batch.
I know that this was a very long and tiring process but I have no choice but to endure the pain and hot of the sun so that we can put something on our dining table.
Farming is a very tiring work you plant and take care the crops for almost 6 months for it to harvest. The purchase price of the rice dealers is so low that the amount spent on fertilizers will hardly not match the selling price of the rice. I hope we can buy it at the right price, because the farmers raised and took care of it right and they deserved a better price for their sweat and effort .
