How are you today ? I hope, we are all always in good health and enthusiasm to live this life. This time, I'm back to participate in the Hive Garden Community to share stories about gardening activities that I do in my hydroponic garden.
For many people, gardening is an activity to fill their spare time. Gardening is considered a very good activity for the body because it makes each of our bodies move and also gets enough sunlight. There are many ways to do gardening, we can do conventional farming or farming with a hydroponic system like I did.
Since 2016 I have been growing vegetables with a hydroponic system, I have experienced many ups and downs. Initially, I planted vegetables in my yard just to fill my free time. At that time, the hydroponic system was still very rarely done in my city. Only a few people in my city grow vegetables with a hydroponic system. Since then, until now I have been working on increasing the number of planting holes I have in my hydroponic garden.
Of all the problems I face in my hydroponic garden. I think the most difficult problem is maintaining enthusiasm and consistency to always be enthusiastic about doing activities in the garden. I'm grateful, since mid-2021 I've been acquainted with hive and create weekly content about hydroponics which keeps me excited to always be able to contribute to this community. So, let's see the condition of vegetables and plants in my hydroponic garden.
Condition of Mint Leaves in Hydroponic Installation
Mint leaves are one of the plants that are always available in my hydroponic garden. I grow mint because it has a high commercial value and is also easy to sell. Mint care is also easy and can be conditioned according to our wishes.
This week, I got a lot of orders for mint leaves. I got an order of about 500 grams of mint leaves that I ordered from my customer. I try a different way to harvest mint leaves, usually I cut off some of the leaves and leave them to grow again. This time, I harvested the whole mint leaves and replaced them with the mint leaves that I had prepared.
I propagate mint leaves in styrofoam hydroponic media, and if these mint leaves grow, I will transfer them to the PVC installation. Ways like making mint leaves are also fresher and greener when harvested.
Condition of Pakcoy in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, I invited my friends to see the condition of the pakcoy that I planted in my hydroponic garden. Since I learned and started to garden with a hydroponic system, pakcoy is a vegetable that is always in my hydroponic garden. Packoy is still in the same family as mustard greens, this vegetable has a delicious and crunchy taste. The care of these vegetables is also easy and the harvest age is also very fast.
I have about 600 pots of pakcoy that I grow in my hydroponic garden. Currently, this pakcoy is around 16 days old after sowing. From my observation, this pakcoy grows very fertile and optimally. The leaves are all green, and most importantly grow uniformly.
In this planting period, I use hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 1300 ppm. From the literature I've read, pakcoy requires a ppm concentration of around 1000-1400 ppm to grow optimally. I try to optimize the potential for pakcoy growth in the early stages of growth to get the best yields later.
Condition of Kangkong in My Hydroponic Garden
Next, we will look at the growth of the kale that I grow in my hydroponic garden. Last Thursday, I transferred 200 pots of kangkong into my hydroponic medium. Currently, this kale is about 12 days old and is growing very well and optimally. I use liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 1000 ppm in this planting period.
I still have about 300 empty pots and I plan to plant kangkong in this hydroponic medium. I also seeded kangkong to prepare and fill in the empty hydroponic media. From my calculations, next week the kangkong seeds that I sow can be transferred to my hydroponic media.
Conditions of Lettuce in My Hydroponic Garden
Finally, I want to invite my friends to see the lettuce that I grow in my hydroponic garden. Two days ago, I transferred the lettuce seeds that I was sowing to the hydroponic media that I have.
I removed about 300 of the lettuce pots I had sown so that the second floor balcony of my house was full of lettuce. I used hydroponic liquid fertilizer with a concentration of around 600-650 for this planting period. I hope that the lettuce that I planted can grow well and optimally.
