I am keen on learning from nature as some plants have taught me the true meaning of RESILIENCE.

Sometimes good things comes from unexpected places and situations. Sometime ago, I tried to plant the African Basil (scent leaf) in my compound but they never grew, I did all within my power to ensure I had that plant in my compound.

Their scent and the benefits of taking that plant endeared me to it, but when it refused to grow, I gradually began to lose interest in it.

After a while, I noticed something started springing up from the ground when I had stopped paying attention, turns out to be the African Basil and I was excited.

I heard they aren't water friendly, that means they die easily when the soil is very wet, so I was quite skeptical whether to wet them regularly or not, altogether I just ignored it and didn't really bother wetting it regularly since the land wasn't really a dry land in the first place.

After some months, I noticed how they bloomed and grew fresher and greener but sadly, a heavy rain came knocking and I thought I had lost it all as some part of the leave withered again.

I gave up hope on it totally and decided to try replanting one, but a few days ago, I noticed how resilient the African Basil is, they didn't give up on themselves, they too are trying to survive and I felt motivated by their trait.

Storms might keep coming in our lives that could discourage us from achieving our goals or reaching our potentials but the power to thrive lies in our mindset and determination, people too might give up on us after they've believed in us, but do we give up on ourselves too?

The African Basil taught me a great lesson on resilience, even on neglect, they didn't allow that affect their growth, they grew at their own pace but they bloomed regardless.

Slow and steady often wins the race, at some point I compared them to other plants in my garden of which I planted at the same time, but at that time, the African Basil was in it phase in life, taking it time to stay deeply rooted in other to stand the test of adversity.

When I feel like giving up in life, I do take a walk around my garden and whenever I see the African Basil blooming, I am reminded that giving up is never a option in life, we might be slow to reach the journey but stopping halfway should never be part of the plan in anyway.
