A look to the past, remembering Theseus Return of the Hero. Review and my opinions.

Greetings and good morning dear friends who love videogames and hive in general, I hope everyone is having a happy day. Today I have returned with you to take a look at the past together, analyzing a classic game that marked the childhood of many, I mean Theseus Return of the Hero.

In this article I will tell you my opinions about the things that have caught my attention the most, details on how to play it and some points that I would have liked to improve. Well, without further introduction, we begin this trip to the past.

Knowing the game

If any of you have been following me for some time, you will surely know that I am a fan of the classic games of the 2000s. The one we are remembering today was released specifically in 2005. I had the privilege of playing it for the first time in 2009 when our neighbor bought a computer.

In case you don't know, I'm telling you that I'm from Cuba and at that time it was practically impossible to get a PC, not only because of the price but also because no store sold them. So I consider it a privilege to be able to play it, and of course I am very grateful to my neighbor for it.

From then until today I keep this title with great affection since it was one of the first I played in the entire saga of the Studio and video game developer Sigma Team.

Game plot.

The story or plot of this game is very simple but interesting, here we take the role of a soldier named Theseus. We have the difficult task of eliminating an invasion of aliens that threaten the security of Europe and subsequently the world.

In this section there is not much to add since the game does not stand out too much in its history but rather emphasizes its gameplay. At the beginning of each mission we are simply presented with a text with a brief description of the story and the objectives to be met. Here is an example:

Gameplay.

Undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of a game is its gameplay and it is, in the end, one of the things that most engages players. In the case of this title, I think that it is one of its strong points, since it knows very well how to entertain, giving us a constant dose of action and adventure from a third-person perspective.

In total in this game we have 10 missions, each with a higher difficulty than the previous one. Among the objectives that we will have to complete is completely eliminating the hordes of monsters that swarm everywhere. Also along the way we will have to destroy the burrows where the enemies sprout.

There are also 2 main objectives that we will have to accomplish in each of the missions, the first will be: search for and rescue a certain number of people. And finally the second one: Break through the enemies to reach the next save point and start a new mission.

Weapons.

Without a doubt, in order to eliminate so many enemies, we will need some weapons, right? Well, in this game we have 6. Although they may seem few, they will be more than enough to complete each of the missions. Here is a screenshot of them:

Enhancers.

What would become of us if we had weapons but little life and resistance? The truth is that we would not last long in the game. Fortunately we have a good catalog of enhancers that we can use to maximize the characteristics of our character.

Once we buy them, these improvements will be permanent and will serve us throughout the game. They are in the form of an implant that is used in the body. Here is a screenshot:

Equipment.

Surely you must be wondering that something is missing here and the truth is that yes. It remains to mention the equipment section, with this we complete the catalog of things that we can buy in the game.

There are several interesting things in this section, such as: 3 types of suits that offer certain protection and that we can acquire depending on the money we have earned in the game. In addition, we can buy up to 5 extra lives in case we die in the game, not having to start from 0.

We can also buy a flashlight for night missions, a life regenerator, a drone and finally a radar to locate nearby enemies.

The money.

Without a doubt, to buy all of the above mentioned we will need money, we can earn this in various ways. Among them is eliminating enemies, destroying boxes and objects scattered in the game.

Also, and since it could not be missing, we will have hidden places that contain great rewards, the latter will motivate the player to explore the map in their search. The truth is that it is appreciated that they have added this since it makes the experience more fun when playing.

Places and setting.

What good would all of the above be if we didn't have a good setting and a map to explore? The truth is that the game would not have much appeal, but that is not the case since this title has several maps set in different places.

We will have from the forest where the game begins, suburbs of houses, mazes, cities, dungeons and even caves. Without a doubt, a good number of places to explore that will make the experience more immersive.

In this section, my opinion is that the game manages to provide a good experience to the player, although I would like it to be a little longer since it only has those maps spread over 10 missions.

Bugs.

Without a doubt, I cannot end this review without mentioning an error that unfortunately the game has and that you may present at some point. First of all I must say that this happens rarely but if it happens to you you will have to start the game from 0.

I mean that the avatar that we control can get stuck in some places and will not be able to move. This so far has no solution and by the way usually happens in all the titles of the saga. As I said, it is something that happens very infrequently, otherwise it is perfect.

Good news.

Before concluding I wanted to leave you 2 surprises for the end:

The first is that this game can be downloaded completely free for PC from its official page, since it was released by the developers.

The second is that the game has a version for Android and you can enjoy it on your mobile. You can download it from google play.

Una mirada al pasado, recordando a Theseus Return of the Hero. Review y mis opiniones.

Saludos y buenos días estimados amigos amantes de lo videojuegos y de hive en general, espero que todos estén teniendo un feliz día. Hoy he regresado con ustedes para juntos dar una mirada al pasado analizando un juego clásico que marcó la infancia de muchos, me refiero a Theseus Return of the Hero.

En este articulo les contaré mis opiniones sobre las cosas que más me han llamado la atención, detalles de cómo jugarlo y algunos puntos que me hubiera gustado mejorar. Pues sin más introducción damos comienzo a este viaje al pasado.

Conociendo al juego.

Si alguno de ustedes me lleva siguiendo algún tiempo seguramente sabrá que soy fan de los juegos clásicos de los años 2000. Este que estamos recordando hoy se estrenó concretamente en el año 2005. Yo tuve el privilegio de jugarlo por primera vez en el 2009 cuando nuestro vecino compró una computadora.

Por si no lo saben les cuento que yo soy de cuba y en esas fechas era prácticamente imposible conseguir una PC, no solo por el precio sino porque ninguna tienda las vendía. Así que considero que fue un privilegio el poder jugarlo, y por supuesto estoy muy agradecido con mi vecino por ello.

Desde aquel entonces hasta el día de hoy conservo este título con mucho cariño, ya que fue uno de los primeros que jugué de toda la saga del Estudio y desarrollador de videojuegos Sigma Team.

Argumento del juego.

La historia o argumento de este juego es bien sencilla pero interesante, aquí tomamos el papel de un soldado llamado Theseus. Tenemos la difícil tarea de eliminar una invasión de alienígenas que amenazan la seguridad de Europa y posteriormente del mundo.

En este apartado no hay mucho que agregar ya que el juego no destaca demasiado en su historia, sino que hace más énfasis en su jugabilidad. Al principio de cada misión simplemente se nos presenta un texto con una breve descripción de la historia y de los objetivos a cumplir. A continuación les dejo un ejemplo:

Jugabilidad.

Sin duda uno de los aspectos más importantes de un juego es su jugabilidad y es al final una de las cosas que más engancha a los jugadores. En el caso de este título opino que es uno de sus puntos fuertes, ya que sabe muy bien como entretener dándonos una dosis constante de acción y aventura desde una perspectiva en tercera persona.

En total en este juego contamos con 10 misiones, cada una con una dificultad superior a la anterior. Entre los objetivos que tendremos que completar está eliminar completamente las hordas de monstruos que pululan por todas partes. Además por el camino tendremos que ir destruyendo las madrigueras por donde brotan los enemigos.

También hay 2 objetivos principales que tendremos que cumplir en cada una las misiones, el primero será: buscar y rescatar un determinado número de personas. Y finalmente el segundo: Abrirse paso entre los enemigos para llegar hasta el siguiente punto de guardado y comenzar una nueva misión.

Armas.

Sin duda para poder eliminar a tantos enemigos necesitaremos algunas armas ¿verdad?, pues en este juego contamos con 6. Aunque pueden parecer pocas con ellas será más que suficiente para completar cada una de las misiones. A continuación les dejo una captura de pantalla de las mismas:

Potenciadores.

¿Qué sería de nosotros si tuviéramos las armas pero poca vida y resistencia? La verdad es que no duraríamos mucho en el juego. Afortunadamente contamos con un buen catalogo de potenciadores que podremos utilizar para maximizar las características de nuestro personaje.

Una vez que las compremos estas mejoras serán permanentes y nos servirán en todo el juego. Tienen la forma de un implante que se utiliza en el cuerpo. A continuación les dejo una captura:

Equipamiento.

Seguro que te debes estar preguntando que aquí falta algo y la verdad es que si. Falta por mencionar la sección de equipamiento, con esta completamos el catalogo de cosas que podemos comprar en el juego.

Hay varias cosas interesantes en esta sección, como por ejemplo: 3 tipos de trajes que ofrecen una determinada protección y que podremos adquirir en dependencia del dinero que hayamos ganado en el juego. Además podremos comprar hasta 5 vidas extras por si llegáramos a morir en la partida no tener que comenzar de 0.

También podremos comprar una linterna para las misiones de noche, regenerador de vida, un dron y finalmente un radar para ubicar los enemigos cercanos.

El Dinero.

Sin duda para comprar todo lo anterior mencionado necesitaremos dinero, este lo podremos ganar de varias maneras. Entre ellas está eliminado enemigos, destruyendo cajas y objetos dispersos en el juego.

También y como no podía faltar tendremos lugares ocultos que contienen grandes recompensas, esto último motivará al jugador a la exploración del mapa en su búsqueda. La verdad es que se agradece que hayan añadido esto, ya que hace más divertida la experiencia al jugar.

Lugares y ambientación.

¿De qué serviría todo lo anterior si no tuviéramos una buena ambientación y un mapa que explorar? La verdad es que el juego no tendría mucho atractivo, pero ese no es el caso, ya que este título cuanta con varios mapas ambientados en lugares diferentes.

Tendremos desde el bosque donde inicia el juego, suburbios de casas, laberintos, ciudades, mazmorras y hasta cuevas. Sin duda una buena cantidad de lugares para explorar que harán la experiencia mas inmersirva.

En este apartado mi opinión es que el juego logra brindar una buena experiencia al jugador, aunque me gustaría que fuera un poco más largo ya que solo cuenta con esos mapas repartidos en 10 misiones.

Bugs.

Sin duda no puedo terminar esta review sin mencionar un error que lamentablemente tiene el juego y puedes llegar a presentar en algún momento. Antes que nada debo decir que esto sucede en raras ocasiones, pero si te llega a ocurrir tendrás que comenzar la partida de 0.

Me refiero a que el avatar que controlamos puede llegar a quedarse trabado en algunos lugares y no podrá moverse. Esto hasta el momento no tiene solución y por cierto suele suceder en todos los títulos de la saga. Como dije es algo que sucede con muy poca frecuencia, por lo demás está perfecto.

Buenas noticias.

La primera es que este juego pueden descargarlo completamente gratuito para pc de su página oficial, ya que fue liberado por los desarrolladores.

La segunda es que el juego cuenta con una versión para android y las podrás disfrutar en el móvil. La puedes descargar de la google play.
