I has been AGES since my last Rom Hack review. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Sorry about that.
I had some computer troubles and then ... anyways, the point is, I am going to bring another SPICY rom hack review. I am sticking to my favorite console for hacks, the n64! The Original Super smash Bros was a huge hit back in the day, and many people still play it. The newer versions of Smash Bros are also very popular! Today we will play a Rom Hack with many added characters, some of which aren't in any of the SSB games [like Conkers below].
I decided to test the game as Conkers. His Down +B move is a really cool swipe with the chainsaw. Up + B is a power jump kind of like mario.
The a button allows Conker to shoot acorns. He also has some really good meele moves like a tail swipe, as well as a frying pan and baseball bat!
Lol I love the graphic of the Conker vs. Yoshis for some reason 🤣
Of course, my goal here will be to beat the game as Conkers. Ideally, I would like to unlock the hidden characters for this review. This will represent I actually did work. Lol
Conkers also has a Down +B fire move in the air. [Maybe B is the chainsaw and i got mixed up 🤣]. There also could be extra moves I'm not quite sure. Maybe I should have done a practice round tee hee hee. The Yoshis were easy to beat as per usual.
Conkers wasn't my favorite character. lots of complex meele moves you need to memorize and kind of random power moves. I could see getting really good with this character over time. Sort of like an alternate Fox character. Time to switch characters. I picked Wario this time. I've played lots of Wario games on the gameboy color so it seems like a good fit.
This time I went into practice mode.
Wario has a very nice B move where you charge up and ... charge across the screen. It's powerful, but you can fall off the level doing this. [Sort of like Foxes power jump].
B down is a butt slam.
I ended up liking the Mewtwo character better. Mewtwo has powerful meele attacks, as well as a power up move like Samous has. Wario is a difficult character to master because it's REALLY easy to fall off the map. Mewtwo is a more powerful character and I really like how fast it moves and also the jumps are really fluid.
I'm not even really sure how to unlock the secret characters. I'm just trying to beat the game at normal difficulty with 3 lives. This normally unlocks NESS. It could be random though I'm really not sure. There's a few ways to unlock characters in the "original" N64 Super Smash Bros.
At the end of the day, I didn't unlock any of the secret characters 🤣😠I am a bit rusty at this game: I need to put a few more hours into the game. And who knows how difficult it is to unlock them. Overall, I would give this Rom Hack an 8/10. It's not super original, but the attention to detail on the [new] character spires etc. are amazing!
