I would like to ask the members of this community, do you have a game that has been with you for a long time? A game that you have enjoyed for many years.
Me gustaría preguntarles a los miembros de esta comunidad. ¿Tienen algún juego que los haya acompañado un largo tiempo? Un juego que lo hayan disfrutado por muchos años.
In particular, I have to talk about League of Legends. A game that accompanied me for a decade of my life. Yes, 10 years. And in this blog I would like to talk a little about my experience.
En particular, tengo que hablar del League of Legends. Un juego que me acompañó una década de mi vida. Sí, 10 años. Y en este blog quisiera hablar un poco de mi experiencia.
You might think “it must be boring to play the same thing for a decade”. And the reality is that lol is a game that is constantly changing. All the time they add champions, items, new mechanics, etc. Which keeps it fresh and entertaining. The reality is that if I compare lol when I started playing (2013) and when I quit (2024), they look like 2 different and totally different games.
Ustedes podrían pensar “debe ser aburrido jugar a lo mismo durante una década”. Y la realidad es que el lol es un juego que cambia constantemente. Todo el tiempo agregan campeones, objetos, nuevas mecánicas, etc. Lo que hace que se mantenga fresco y entretenido. La realidad es que si comparo al lol de cuando comencé a jugar (2013) y al de cuando lo dejé (2024), parecen 2 juegos distintos y totalmente diferentes.
Obviously, during that time I didn't play the same way. There were periods where I would go weeks without playing a game and there were others where I played 14 hours a day (yes, I had a problem). I remember at my most addictive time, I would only stop to eat, go to the bathroom and sleep. In my defense, I did that when I was a teenager. 🤣
Obviamente, durante ese tiempo no jugué de la misma manera. Hubo períodos donde pasaba semanas sin jugar una partida y hubo otros donde jugaba 14 horas al día (sí, tenía un problema). Recuerdo que en mi momento de más adicción, solo paraba para comer, ir al baño y dormir. En mi defensa, eso lo hacía cuando era un adolescente. 🤣
You could say that I got pretty good at this game. To give you an idea, I got to diamond before I quit. That would be entering the top 3% with the highest level. Obviously, I was a long way from what the pros would be, but I was skilled. I was a player that is called 'OTP' (One Trick Pony). Which means that I only used one champion out of 150.
Se podría decir que logré ser bastante bueno en este juego. Para que se den una idea, llegué a diamante antes de dejarlo. Que sería entrar al 3% con más nivel. Obviamente, estaba muy lejos de lo que sería los profesionales, pero era habilidoso. Yo era un jugador que se denomina ‘OTP’ (One Trick Pony). Que significa que solo utilizaba un campeón de los 150 qué hay.
It's amazing all the anecdotes and stories I have through lol. From basic things like fun nights out with friends. To something as crazy as falling in love with someone I met in game. I literally went on a couple of dates with someone I met in an online game and truly fell in love 😅. It's so surreal to think about the surprises life throws at you and how unpredictable it can be.
Es increíble todas las anécdotas e historias que tengo a través del lol. Desde cosas básicas, como noches divertidas con amigos. Hasta algo tan loco como enamorarme de alguien que conocí en el juego. Literalmente, salí un par de veces con alguien que conocí en un juego online y verdaderamente me enamoré 😅. Es muy surrealista pensar en las sorpresas que te da la vida y en lo impredecible que puede ser.
Anyway, after so long, I think it's time to end this stage with lol. I haven't played it for a month now and honestly, I think it's time to quit. It's not as fun and entertaining as it used to be. Besides, nowadays I don't feel like playing videogames. I want to concentrate and dedicate my energy to be more productive and achieve my goals.
En fin, luego de tanto tiempo, creo que es hora de terminar esta etapa con lol. Ya hace un mes que no lo juego y sinceramente, considero que es momento de dejarlo. No se me hace tan divertido y entretenido como antes. Aparte en la actualidad de mi vida no ando con muchas ganas de jugar videojuegos. Quiero concentrarme y dedicar mi energía en ser más productivo y lograr mis metas.
Anyway, it was good while it lasted, but it's time to close one stage and open another. I enjoyed League of Legends a lot, but it's time to dedicate my time and energy to more important things. Although I don't rule out reinstalling it to play a game every now and then n.n
En fin, fue bueno mientras duró, pero es hora de cerrar una etapa y abrir otra. Disfruté mucho el League of Legends, pero es hora de dedicar mi tiempo y mi energía en cosas más importantes. Aunque no descarto volverlo a instalar para jugar una partida cada tanto tiempo n.n
