A different Pokémon than traditional turn-based Pokémon, a MOBA-style revision of Pokémon Unite

Pokémon games traditionally usually follow the classic pattern of the model presented for GameBoy with its first release being the Pokémon Red & Green with the additional of the third game included in every continuation of the series Green, but today I will share a game of the same title however with a very different proposal of turn-based battles and Pokémon captures, continue reading to follow the review of the game Pokémon UNITE.

No turn-based battles

What most caught my attention was the new style of play proposed by developers, I thought it would be something like a Pokémon Sword & Shield with better graphics however after the first game already understood the difference, it was a gameplay based on MOBAS where you have a team and a type of towers in the form of circles involved in a coloring with a number of points that perhaps can be called points of life, your main goal is to bring down all these so-called towers to reach the base of the enemy where you must destroy the last tower, The combat is quite open allowing various formations however at the beginning get ready for messy scenes of a real battle without understanding anything, because at first you are selected in teams of links beginners or people who do not necessarily have full understanding of the game until you are at a level above disputing in ranks where teams are organized so that keep the balance of level, the game starts after a confirmation of ten players being distributed five for each side, then you must select your poekmon and wait for the moment to enter the arena.

My first Pokémon battle

At first you have a free rotation of Pokémon since you just start the game choosing a single Pokémon, at the moment that I was testing the game I had a few options like Charizard, Pikachu, Bulbassaur and Mew, I decided to choose Mew which was a distance attack Pokémon and had a support ability that it directed itself to the allied target and helped with a small amount of healing, This was great to give small evasions of battles that I knew I would lose, you get attack points to the opponent's tower area by defeating some Pokémon monsters scattered around the map and after eliminating the opponent Pokémon collecting all the points it had in its possession, That is why I found important the strategy of not staying with a balance of points greater than 20 to avoid distributing this amount to the enemy and give an unnecessary advantage to them, as in MOBAS we can differentiate the Lane for each character to follow can also be said of Pokémon UNITE, I was in the Top Lane keeping attack pressure at a distance while little Machop followed through the middle holding the opponent's attack together with Bulbassaur, it is interesting to note that **the Pokémon evolve during the battle in the arena, this consists of you manage to direct their skills in the available slots being two normal skills and one designated for the final attack.

My team already had a big advantage in points, eliminating three towers while the enemy only one, I was standing out thanks to my distance attack power, many times they could barely reach me without losing almost all their maximum life, the lack of a defensive monster for them to do the same that our Machop was doing was the biggest differential in battle, I was getting so powerful that I was already fighting against two or three at the same time when my Ultimate was available, To tell you the truth, I was beginning to think that Mew had an initial advantage for this level because of its offensive power, possibility to act as a support, and what some more experienced players call fast attack, which is that Pokémon that can change the direction of the game just by eliminating the monsters in the arena and taking opportunities to eliminate the target of higher value of the opposing team.
With only 01:14 left in the battle I was already among the standouts accumulating 12 downed rival monsters and 4 assists to my allies while the opposing team's highest score was Zeraora's with 3 downed targets and no assists. Time didn't even need to run out and we got the victory knocking down the last obstacle in the enemy's base.
The final result was 640 points for our team against 345 for the opponent, I was the highlight of my team with the final score summary of 87 against Rtxdg that accumulated 67 points.

Final Conclusions

The game in general is very good, a good balance of mechanics without trying to include something outside the learning curve in addition to great graphics without forgetting the quality of the soundscape that adorns the background environment from the Lobby to the moment of battle, I had no difficulty finding opponents being the maximum waiting time up to 10 seconds but perhaps I suppose that in initial level we can be battling only against character controlled by robots to feel good players or accelerate the process of learning the game, however my team has shown 100% to be real players so I am still in doubt about this issue addressed, so far acquiring all collectible Pokémon without adding any value to buy others or cosmetic products outside the premium pass so maybe we can say it is still not so Pay to Play since you can acquire a starting collection and evolve through that point.
