COD in 3rd person for first time since 2009 šŸ„‰

I've now been able to play at least half a dozen hours of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Multiplayer Beta. I posted my first impressions at the start of weekend 1 of the beta. Now that weekend 1 has come to a close, I figured I'd make another video with more insight into what I think of the game. Plus I really wanted to show off the new 3rd person mode.

Pretty much every gamer knows what Call of Duty is. COD is one of the most popular first-person shooter franchises of all time. COD was first released in 2003 and had been coming out yearly since 2005.

Out of over 20 COD games released, only one has ever featured an option to play in third person. That was Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009. It seems fitting that they bring back the option to play in third person with the Modern Warfare II reboot in 2022.

Not many were expecting this to be a feature in this year's COD, but many are more than happy to welcome yet another way to enjoy the game.

If you are wondering what the difference between first and third person is, let me explain.

In first person your view is from your character's face, meaning you only see your weapon and some of your arms.

In third person, your view is from behind your character's shoulder.

There are many benefits to both points of view. It usually just comes down to personal preference. The thing is, COD doesn't usually give the option to choose between the two. So that means that anybody who prefers third person has been forced to deal with first person or go play another game.

Some of the main benefits of third person are that you can see your character's skin, peek around corners, hip fire is a lot easier to aim, and it's honestly just really cool to see COD from this POV.

One thing that is a bit unique about MWII's third person is that when you do decide to aim in, it transforms back into first person so that you can aim down sights like we are used to doing. This works as a bit of a hybrid system between first and thrid person.

You may be concerned that you'll have to deal with third person players even if you decide to play in first person. That however will not be an issue since third person is separated into its own playlist.

Time for some gameplay šŸ”«

In case you haven't had a chance to play the MWII beta, I will be showing you plenty of third person gameplay in today's video. I have recorded two matches for this one and both of them will give you a closer look at what playing COD in third person is like.

How are you feeling about this new feature? Do you think that it doesn't belong in COD? Or are you like me and believe that all future CODs should have the third person option?

Leave your comments below and let me know.

Thanks for watching.
