It's official. Mortal Kombat 1 is one of my most anticipated games of this year, perhaps the one I'm most looking forward to along with Starfield, although I'm much more hopeful for MK1 than I am for what it can be, a new combat system that many creators are testing and many of the franchise's hardcore fans are giving it the thumbs up as well as a reboot of the original story ensures that we'll see new interpretations of the game's iconic characters.
With this trailer they've only added to the hype, there was a lot of people speculating in videos about what the initial roaster was going to be and now it looks like it's all confirmed, this latest trailer has revealed a huge amount of characters in comparison to others and among them some of my personal favourites! Reptile y Havik look great and it looks like they've managed to integrate them a bit more into the story mode, this will be the first time we see Havik, a personal favourite so I've got hype on top of that!
They didn't reveal many details about the main story but they did reveal the role that Reptile and Ashrah (another character they have revealed in this trailer) will have in Liu Kang's troops to defend the earth, it looks like a bit of a repeat of Raiden grabbing every fighter he can and integrating them for a couple of missions in the different realms but it also confirms the existence of the Chaos realm in this game, with Havik as the main exponent.
It's a hard thing to do but I think they've managed to give an accurate spin to all the characters we've seen so far, having a role in this new timeline like Liu Kang as the main architect, I still don't understand what is the potential threat that this team will face but with just the trailers I can make a prediction that the whole team will be in a race to prevent Onaga's army of the dead (which has been in previous MKs) from being awakened by a new evil force.
Although I'm still shuffling who this villain is, many sources say Shao Kahn returns in some form in this installment as a minion pulling the strings from behind but I'd really like to see some other character take over, we haven't seen too much of Reiko and she's one of my favorite characters and one that I'd really like to see take center stage.
It really feels like Netherealm Studios is taking risks on all sides, from the gameplay aspect the Kameos are making a lot of noise for all the variety that this title could get, especially in the competitions, on the character side they just took out most of the character roaster that they had in MK11 to enter a new era with some old characters that were forgotten for some time.
Maybe it's the perfect time for Sub-Zero and Scorpion to finally have a starring role in the Mortal Kombat storyline, I see a lot of play with both characters being brothers and having much more specific goals with their clan slowly becoming corrupt, also there are the stories of Kenshi, Kung Lao and Raiden which are as far as I know unknown with some rumors here and there that each of these characters are reworked to the point that we won't recognize their past behaviors.
This seems to be our last glimpse of MK1 until the private beta in mid August, to be released on all consoles in September, what can I say, I'm looking forward to this title and the only thing that hasn't made me pre-order it is my strict policy of not paying for a game until I see the final result, but come on these guys are very clear on what they are doing and I don't see them slipping with the amazing team they have behind them.

Es oficial. Mortal Kombat 1 es uno de mis juegos mas anticipados de este año, quiza el que mas me levante expectacion junto con Starfield, aunque de MK1 estoy mucho mas esperanzado de lo que puede llegar a ser, un nuevo sistema de combate que estan probando muchos creadores y le estan dando el visto bueno muchos de los fanaticos mas acerrimos de la franquicia asi como un reinicio de la historia original que asegura que veamos nuevas interpretaciones de los personajes iconicos del juego.
Con este trailer solo hicieron alimentar mas el hype, habia mucha gente especulando en videos sobre cual iba a ser el roaster inicial y parece que ahora ya esta todo confirmado, este ultimo avance ha revelado una cantidad enorme de personajes a comparacion de otros y entre ellos algunos favoritos de mi parte! Reptile y Havik lucen muy bien y al parecer han logrado integrarlos un poco mas en el modo historia, sera la primera vez que veamos a Havik, un favorito personal asi que tengo hype encima
No revelaron muchos detalles sobre la historia principal pero si el papel que tendran Reptile y Ashrah (otro personaje que han revelado en este trailer) en las tropas de Liu Kang para defender a la tierra, parece que se repite un poco la historia de Raiden agarrando todo luchador que pueda e integrarlo para un par de misiones en los diferentes reinos pero tambien se confirma la existencia del reino del Caos en esta entrega, con Havik como principal exponente.
Es algo my dificil de hacer pero creo que han sabido darle un girp acertado a todos los personajes que hemos visto hasta el momento, teniendo un rol en esta nueva linea temporal como Liu Kang como arquitecto principal, aun me falta entender cual es la amenaza potencial que este equipo enfrentara pero con solo los trailers puedo hacer una prediccion de que todo el equipo estara en una carrera para evitar que el ejercito de muertos de Onaga (que ya ha salido en anteriores MK) sea despertado por una nueva fuerza maligna
Aunque aun sigo barajando quien es este villano, muchas fuentes dicen que Shao Kahn regresa de alguna forma en esta entrega como un subordinado que mueve los hilos desde atras pero yo la verdad quisiera ver a algun otro personaje tomar en mando, no hemos visto demasiado a Reiko y es uno de mis personajes favoritos y que me gustaria mucho que cobrase protagonismo
Realmente se siente que Netherealm Studios esta tomando riesgos por todos los lados, desde el aspecto jugable los Kameos estan haciendo mucho ruido por toda la variedad que podria conseguir este titulo, en especial en las competencias, por el lado de los personajes acaba de sacar a la mayoria del roaster de personajes que tenia en MK11 para entrar a una nueva era con algunos viejos personajes que estaban olvidados desde hace algun tiempo
Quiza es el momento perfecto para que Sub-Zero y Scorpion tengan un rol protagonico al fin en la trama de Mortal Kombat, veo mucho juego con ambos personajes siendo hermanos y teniendo objetivos mucho mas especificos con su clan lentamente corrompiendose, tambien estan las historias de Kenshi, Kung Lao y Raiden que son hasta donde se desconocidas con algunos rumores aqui y alla de que cada uno de estos personajes esta retrabajado hasta el punto de que no vamos a reconocer sus pasados comportamientos
Este parece ser nuestro ultimo vistazo de MK1 hasta la beta privada que se hara a mediados de Agosto, para ya en Septiembre lanzarlo para todas las consolas, que puedo decir, estoy esperando este titulo con ansias y lo unico que no me ha hecho precomprarlo es mi politica estricta de no pagar por un juego hasta ver el resultado final, pero vamos que estos muchachos estan muy claros en lo que estan haciendo y no les veo resbalarse con el increible equipo que tienen detras
