El otro día tuve una pequeña pelea con mi novio. Tengo esta...adicción a comprar juegos y no jugarlos. Así que, cuando Jurassic World Evolution 2 salió de oferta en Steam, quería comprarlo. Él no me dejó. Me dijo que ya tenía el primero y nunca lo había jugado.
Como si fuese una niña a la que acaban de retar por algo que sabe que hizo mal, me quedé en silencio. Tenía razón. Así que lo dejé ganar...por esa vez. No compré el juego, pero sí instalé el primero para probarlo.
The other day I had a little argument with my boyfriend. I have this...addiction to buying games and not playing them. So, when Jurassic World Evolution 2 came on Sale on Steam, I wanted to buy it...but he wouldn't let me. He told me that I already had the first game and I had never played it.
Like a child who had been scolded for something she knew was wrong, I sat in silence for that time. He was right, so I let him win...for now. I didn't buy the second game, but installed the first one instead just to try it.

As soon as the Universal Music intro started sounding on my computer I started screaming with joy -literally-. I had been a HUGE Dino Fan for all my life. Actually, after watching the first Jurassic Park Movies, I wanted to become a paleontologist. Unfortunately for me, my parents were kind of strict about school and they managed to discourage me from that dream because the job market was a little limited for a paleontologist. Lucky for me, life always has its ways. And now, I was tasked with the mission of building a Park filled with Dinosaurs. P A R A D I S E. Ok, some people died during the process but otherwise...P A R A D I S E.
El juego es como cualqueir otro juego de Micro- managing...con dientes y colmillos. Tenés que administrar el parque y hacer que de ganancias. Asegurarte que tus dinosaurios estén cómodos y sanos...o enfrentar las consecuencias. Si un dinosaurio no es feliz, se va a escapar. Si se escapa, lastimará a gente en el parque o incluso las matará. No importa si es un herbívoro, la regla es no meterse con ningún bicho que pese el doble que vos.
Al principio manejar la isla es fácil. Vas completar tareas para las divisiones de seguridad, entretenimiento e investigación. Si no le prestas atención a alguna de las divisiones, te van a intentar sabotear. Te van a cortar la luz, romper tus defensas o soltar a tus dinosaurios. Mientras continuas el juego, el Dr. Ian Malcom te va a sugerir que él no está muy de acuerdo con como se está manejando todo dentro del parque. Mientras jugas vas a tener que tomar algunas decisiones éticas como por ejemplo si está bien dejar a dos dinosaurios pelear hasta morir o si está bien venderlos.
The game is like any other micro-managing game...with claws and teeth. You have to manage the park and make it profitable. Make sure your dinosaurs are healthy and comfortable...or face the consequences. If a dinosaur is not happy, it will try to escape. If it escapes, it will hurt people around your park and even kill them. It doesn't matter if it's an herbivore, you just don't mess with animals twice your weight.
At first managing the island is easy. You will have to complete tasks for the divisions of security, research, and security. If you don't pay much attention to any of them, they'll try to sabotage you...Cause electric power-downs, break your defenses, and let the dinosaurs loose. As you continue playing, Dr. Ian Malcom will suggest to you that he does not trust the park's way of dealing with things. As you play, you'll have to face some ethical decisions such as "is it ok for me to let two dinosaurs fight to the death just to entertain people?" "Is selling dinosaurs something I should be doing?".
Mientras el parque crece, también lo hacen las opciones. Y también la dificultad. En la primer área, tuve varios problemas con "esperar que el parque hiciera dinero para invertir". Cometí algunos errores en inversiones y casi termino en la quiebra (Ey...esto suena mucho a la vida real). Ser inteligente y saber cuándo invertir es una clave en este juego.
Algo que me encantó es que podés manejar los helicopteros o los autos del parque, permitiéndote medicar a los dinosaurios vos mismo, sacarles fotos o incluso...correr por tu vida.
As the parks grow bigger, the options too. And so the difficulty. In the first area, I had a really hard time "waiting for the park to make money so I can invest it". I made a few bad decisions and ended up almost broke (Hey, that sounds a lot like real life to me...). Being smart and knowing when to invest in a new feature is key to this game.
A cool thing to do is ride the helicopters and cars around the park. You can help medicate the dinosaurs, take photos of them, and even RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
Comencé a jugar a las 2 PM. Cuando vi el reloj otra vez, habían pasado 8 horas. Así que sí, puedo decir que es un tanto adictivo.
Así que al final podré no haberme convertido en una paleontóloga...¡Pero me divertí muchísimo pretendiendo ser una!
I started playing this game at 2 pm. When I saw the clock again, 8 hours had passed. So...yeah, you can say it's pretty addictive.
So, I may not have turned out to be a real paleontologist...but I had a heck of fun pretending to be one!
