Hey Hive Gaming! I was planning to do this post a few days ago but I ended up doing it about the fantastic Milk inside a bag of milk and Milk outside a bag of milk, but finally here is the post I had pending, and this time it will be an indie different from the ones I usually bring here. I've been talking about indies that blow your mind for a few posts now, but this time I'll talk about one that seeks more to make you cry than to blow your mind with complicated themes, since by itself, this game is quite easy to digest, but very hard to overcome.

I met To The Moon by a recommendation of a Streamer in a Podcast that I like a lot and that I often watch, and it caught my attention so much that I looked it up without wanting to make me many spoilers about what it was about and that same day I started to play it, and I finished it the next day.

In terms of gameplay, it's quite similar to games like One Shot or Undertale, although this one unlike Undertale doesn't have combat, as it focuses on running through the story, in a quite original way. The game also has some Puzzle solving elements but these are not that complicated to do, and in fact are very easy, I literally completed all the puzzles on the first try hahahaha.

The point where this game TOTALLY stands out, is in its beautiful story, and its incredibly original way of going through it, with a beautiful soundtrack tailor made to make you feel immersed in its little world.

The soundtrack is done entirely on piano, and I enjoyed every second I played this game listening to it. And all the piano melody created fits perfectly with the story, as it is totally related to everything that happens, and I will explain this a little bit later, first I will focus on explaining a little bit what the story is about....

To The Moon is about a scientific group that is in charge of fulfilling the last wish of the elderly before they die, and in order to accomplish this task, the scientists in charge of this task must enter the memories of their patient and change some things of his life to make everything fit and that the patient remembers all that wonderful life in which he could fulfill all his dreams and wishes, and finally be able to rest in peace.

This is not a story that focuses on the protagonists, as these are not very deep in reality, nor do they make you connect with them so much, and practically that is the goal of the game as these are only workers who are responsible for performing the work for which they are paid, which is to fulfill these wishes to the elderly, and the truth, it is a very honorable work (Although it is still a job).

The game focuses entirely on the journey through the memories of the old man, starting from the most recent, to the deepest of his childhood, and to advance through this path must be connected between memories with a "memento" which is an object in a memory of some importance to the patient, which is also present in another older memory. The concept of going through memories in this way is very original and manages to generate a practically perfect layered story, connecting each phase of the old man's life in a different layer, until finally you can fit all these layers together like the pieces of a puzzle and understand the whole life of the patient, and the real origin of the wish he asked to fulfill before he died.

In To The Moon, the patient is an old man who has nothing left, only his material goods, his wife died long ago and his last wish was to go to the moon, but why? Even he doesn't know when we ask him at the beginning of the game, and we must solve this doubt by traveling to his childhood through his memories in order to find the reason why he wants to go to the moon, change some of the decisions he made in his life and finally cause him to end up going to NASA to fulfill his dream.

His wife plays a fundamental role in this whole story, as she is the person he loved the most in his whole life, and he has known her since childhood. Practically everything revolves around her, because he dedicated his whole life to make her happy, so he could be happy and he fulfilled every last one of her wishes before his death.

The whole game is a path that at first is somewhat confusing, with some questions that are generated for which you think you have the answer, but in reality it ends up being a totally different one, and the magic of To The Moon focuses on this very path through all those questions. Discovering the real reason why the old man wants to go to the moon, why the game is called this way and what meaning some things have, like for example his wife's stuffed animal, are what ended up destroying me emotionally and making me cry a lot being close to finishing the game, and the truth is that I don't want to reveal some of these answers for the one who wants to play it and can feel the magic of this beautiful story.

As I said in the beginning, the soundtrack is totally related to the story, because the piano melody that is heard in most of the game was composed by the old man for his wife, and listening to it through every memory makes you realize how ingenious this story is, and how it manages to relate everything to each other, connecting it with his wife, who was practically the most important thing in his whole life.

I highly recommend this game to anyone, it is not at all difficult to understand or play, and if you are looking for a beautiful and original story, with which to get sentimental a good time because To The Moon is the perfect game for you.

Visually I say once and for all that it is not the eighth wonder of the world, but still within its visual simplicity, it manages to captivate anyone with everything it offers, and I'm sure that even the toughest and strongest will cry a little with this game.

Tenía pensado hacer este post hace unos días pero terminé haciéndolo sobre los fantásticos Milk inside a bag of milk y Milk outside a bag of milk, pero finalmente aquí está el post que tenía pendiente, y esta vez será un indie distinto a los que suelo traer por aquí. Ya llevo unos cuantos posts hablando sobre indies que te hacen volar la cabeza, pero esta vez hablaré sobre uno que busca más hacerte llorar que volarte la cabeza con temas complicados, ya que de por sí, este juego es bastante fácil de digerir, pero muy duro de superar.

Conocí To The Moon por una recomendación de un Streamer en un Podcast que me gusta mucho y que suelo ver seguido, y me llamó tanto la atención que lo busqué sin querer hacerme muchos spoilers sobre de qué trataba y ese mismo día empecé a jugarlo, y lo terminé el día siguiente.

En cuanto a jugabilidad, es bastante parecido a juegos como One Shot o Undertale, aunque este a diferencia de Undertale no tiene combates, ya que se centra en recorrer la historia, de una forma bastante original. El juego también cuenta con algunos elementos de resolución de Puzzles pero éstos no son tan complicados de hacer, y de hecho son muy fáciles, literalmente completé todos los puzzles en el primer intento jajajaaja.

El punto en el que se destaca TOTALMENTE este juego, es en su hermosa historia, y su forma tan increíblemente original de recorrerla, con un soundtrack precioso hecho a la medida para poder hacerte sentir inmerso en su pequeño mundo.

La banda sonora está hecha completamente en piano, y disfruté cada segundo que jugué a este juego escuchándola. Y toda la melodía de piano creada encaja perfectamente con la historia, ya que está totalmente relacionada con todo lo que ocurre, y explicaré esto un poco más adelante, primero me centraré en explicar un poco de qué va la historia...

To The Moon trata acerca de un grupo científico que se encarga de cumplirle su último deseo a los ancianos antes de morir, y para poder cumplir con esta labor, los científicos encargados de esa tarea deben entrar en los recuerdos de su paciente y cambiar algunas cosas de su vida para poder hacer que todo encaje y que el paciente recuerde toda esa maravillosa vida en la que si pudo cumplir todos sus sueños y deseos, y poder finalmente descansar en paz.

Esta no es una historia que se centre en los protagonistas, ya que éstos no son muy profundos en realidad, ni tampoco te hacen conectar tanto con ellos, y prácticamente ese es el objetivo del juego ya que éstos solo son trabajadores que se encargan de realizar la labor por la que les pagan, que es cumplirle estos deseos a los ancianos, y la verdad, es una labor muy honorable (Aunque siga siendo un trabajo).

El juego se centra totalmente en el recorrido dentro de los recuerdos del anciano, que empiezan desde el más reciente, hasta el más profundo de su niñez, y para avanzar a través de este camino se debe conectar entre recuerdos con un "memento" el cual es un objeto en un recuerdo de cierta importancia para el paciente, que también está presente en otro recuerdo más antiguo. El concepto de recorrer recuerdos de esa manera es muy original y logra generar una historia por capas prácticamente perfecta, conectando cada fase de la vida del anciano en una capa distinta, hasta que finalmente puedas encajar todas estas capas como las piezas de un rompecabezas y comprender toda la vida del paciente, y el origen real del deseo que pidió cumplir antes de morir.

En To The Moon, el paciente es un anciano al cual ya no le queda nada, solo sus bienes materiales, su esposa murió hace mucho y su último deseo era ir a la luna, pero ¿Por qué? Ni siquiera él lo sabe cuando se lo preguntamos al inicio del juego, y debemos resolver esta duda viajando a su niñez a través de sus recuerdos para poder encontrar la razón por la cual quiere ir a la luna, cambiar algunas de las decisiones que tomó en su vida y finalmente provocar que termine yendo a la NASA a cumplir su sueño.

Su esposa juega un papel fundamental dentro de toda esta historia, ya que es la persona que más amó en toda su vida, y la conoce desde su niñez. Prácticamente todo gira en torno a ella, porque él dedicó toda su vida a hacerla feliz, para él poder ser feliz y cumplió hasta el último de sus deseos antes de su muerte.

Todo el juego es un camino que al principio es algo confuso, con algunas preguntas que se generan para las cuales piensas que tienes la respuesta, pero en realidad termina siendo una totalmente distinta, y la magia de To The Moon se centra en este mismo camino a través de todas esas preguntas. Descubrir la verdadera razón por la que el anciano quiere ir a la luna, por qué el juego se llama así y qué significado tienen algunas cosas como por ejemplo el peluche de su esposa, son lo que terminaron destruyéndome emocionalmente y haciéndome llorar un montón estando cerca de terminar el juego, y la verdad es que no quiero revelar algunas de estas respuestas para el que lo desee jugar y pueda sentir la magia de esta hermosa historia.

Como dije en un principio, la banda sonora está totalmente relacionada con la historia, debido a que la melodía de piano que se escucha en gran parte del juego fue compuesta por el anciano para su esposa, y escucharla a través de cada recuerdo te hace darte cuenta de lo ingenioso de esta historia, y como logra relacionar todo entre sí, conectándolo con la esposa de éste, que prácticamente fue lo más importante de toda su vida.

Recomiendo muchísimo este juego a cualquiera, no es para nada difícil de entender o de jugar, y si buscas una historia hermosa y original, con la que ponerte sentimental un buen rato pues To The Moon es el juego perfecto para ti.

Visualmente ya digo de una vez que no es la octava maravilla del mundo, pero aún así dentro de su simpleza visual, logra cautivar a cualquiera con todo lo que ofrece, y estoy seguro de que hasta el más duro y fuerte va a llorar un poco con este juego.
