Some Heavy Metal, But Not Music, It's Copper!

I have always had a passion for collecting coins since I was young. My father liked investing in silver coins and I picked up the habit from him I suppose. Over the years I began to pick up some gold items when I could afford them as well. But one item I had never thought about investing in was copper. The only copper I had was from old pennies and some raw copper I had found while gold prospecting. A few years ago I picked up a copper bar from another collector because I didn't have one, and I figured copper will always have value, of course not as much as much rarer metals like silver and gold.

Have a look at it, it's a pretty bar produced by a well known German company:

At one hundred ounces it is a hefty item, a pretty one as well. Over the last several years copper has been increasing in value. It likely will continue to go up although not nearly as dramatically as it's silver or gold counterparts. But it is much less expensive to invest in as copper is far more abundant than the other precious metals.

Geiger Precious Metals

Geiger has been around for a very long time starting in 1218 in Leipzig, Germany according to the company. They have a long history of producing high quality precious metals and are known for their purity and craftmanship. I think most of the Silver Gold Stackers have some of their items, I know I have a couple silver items from the company.

One thing I didn't really think about until today, preparing this post, is the castle they imprint on their precious metals. It's called Güldengossa Castle.

It lies a just outside of Leipzig and started as a manor house in 1285. In 1720 it was converted into a Baroque style castle by Johann Ernst Kregel von Sternbach. The Geiger family purchased the castle in 2006 and refurbished it and since then they have been using the image on their precious metals. It's a gorgeous place, I wouldn't mind owning that piece of history!

Unfortunately I don't have nearly enough money to afford a nice European estate like that one. I understand actor Nicolas Cage owns several castles in Europe and nearly bankrupted himself when his big paying acting parts dried up. I believe he was forced to sell a few of them, which couldn't be easy. There aren't too many people out there with enough cash in their pocket to buy a castle. But one can dream!

That just about wraps up my most for today. I hope you enjoyed seeing a nice hefty bar of copper, it really is pretty cool and heavy. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. I want thank you all for all of your support, it truly is appreciated. Have a great rest of your day everyone, tomorrow it's Friday at long last!
