From the dawn of time, work, creativity, and innovation have been able to shape the world from how it was to where it is right now. All the things we build now and what was built in the past are different in complexity. In order to exceed past intelligence, extra work needs to be done.
The person who invented the bicycle was a total genius at that time, and he's not an average individual, nor was his innovation average at that time.
But today, it could be considered an average thing to do due to how present intelligence has evolved, YouTube has all you need to create a bicycle as long as you got the tools needed to make one.
Average Keeps Evolving
Today, people who can read and write are not average. But in the past, anyone who could read and write was considered to be above average when it comes to skill level.
Living in today's world now requires a different form of average level, and the complexity involved has evolved to require more human endeavor and intelligence to survive and possibly thrive in today's world.
Many people are not even able to survive
Talk less of thriving
For me, I could say I am still surviving because, other than paying my bills, I don't have much else I could write home about. Savings and investing are two routes that could help you thrive well, but this is only what the average human can do.
Thriving is for those who have passed the threshold where money stops having much meaning. What matters to thrivers are experiences and other things that make their lives tick other than money. But for anyone still surviving and barely surviving, money will always be the number one priority.
Where has average evolved to...
Just like I said in the past, being able to read and write was once what thrivers and survivors were able to do to live life comfortably. All of that has now become a below-average skill set needed to survive in today's world.
Nowadays, you have to do more than get a college degree to survive. For instance, some people had to become music artists, web developers, YouTubers, and many more areas that the world was not paying attention to in the past.
This is where average has evolved to, and the reason is that all those activities have now become mainstream and common because as long as everyone can do it, then it is meant to become obsolete or special.
You see, what people want to pay for are something special and things that come with complexity. If it is easy and everyone is able to do it, then it is not even average anymore. Doing average stuff and work today is just a little way of saying you don't want to evolve and grow from the past average intelligence.
If you don't make sure you're doing the hard work that others are ignoring or seeing as something too complex to handle, then you're setting yourself up not even for average but something below that. And that won't be able to make you survive in today's world.
