Burnout vs Balance: Finding Your Pace

It is said that what doesn’t kill a man makes him stronger. However, sometimes what doesn’t kill you leaves you crippled.

I was talking with a friend today about work-life balance since he’s someone like me who’s involved in various activities both offline and online.

His take was that it’s best to work yourself until you burn out, then take a long rest before getting back in.

I beg to differ that this is not the best approach for everyone because sometimes going too hard until you get totally exhausted is not a proven way to make the best out of what you want.

Personally, I believe that going at something consistently over time is sometimes the best route to go.

Nevertheless, it depends on the situation you find yourself in and whatever it is you hope to achieve.

While it is good to go at things relentlessly, as it is being preached these days, especially within the self-improvement community, it is also too much pressure to put on yourself when you’re just starting out.

Nonetheless, time is also not on anyone’s side, so slowing yourself down when you know you can move faster is you moving closer to failure.

Best to move at a consistent pace towards success than move too fast and burn out.
