Fandom Lore: Why Slade... Was It A Betrayal, Or Was It A Pure Desire of Power?

Hi There, Welcome to my Weekly Splinterlands Post.

As for this one, it is actually my participation for Community Engagement Challenge, and our topic today is about lore... yes A lore for a card we choose freely, and add in some of story we make it ourselves to enrich our imagination about the Splinterlands World.

Recently I am playing a lot with Commander Slade, well I just got this card from buying directly Rare Card Reward using Glint. It's a bit unorthodox card, which initially I can't get why should we use this card but lately I have found out that this one is very interesting.

Ok I am not sharing a battle with this card in this post, by I will share some of my own version story about him. I just felt that I needed to go with him because I read his lore was this short...

Once an influential overlord in the Belurocian Empire’s military, Slade was quick to forsake his oath and swear a new one to Silus of the Rift and the Chaos Empire. With his military acumen and knowledge of Belurocian strategy, he proved decidedly effective at crushing his former compatriots. His brutality and mercilessness were rewarded with a promotion to commander and an assignment as the puppet-chancellor of the Republic of Fireboro,
where his battalion of legionnaires enforces his decrees without compromise or compunction.

It is said that Commander Slade can use water magic to corrupt one’s soul, twisting even the most noble to serve his nefarious will.

I want to say it is suck, you should put more effort to make better Lore with more depth than that... but hey, why should I complain it more, let's add my own version here.

SLADE, FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN

Republic of Fireboro had one extraordinary Commander, his name was Slade. Commander Slade never lost his battle and that's why Silus of the Rift personally picked him from the Belurocian Empire. He scouted there personally and found this amazing super strong human with the name Slade.

Silus devious words managed to tear Slade wills and soul, fallen to the dark side of his heart, Slade finally followed Silus and left the Belurocian Empire Military which had nurtured him from a novice warrior into a well built one.

But is that the real story of this Commander Slade? There is another side of the story, which people might not aware of it.

When Slade was a young man, he registered himself to Belurocian Empire. He had a big dream, he wanted to be a hero, a famous warrior whose name would be sung all across the empire. In a glance, this was like every young boy dreams wasn't it? Get strong, be famous, and stand on top.

Well Slade pursued that dream in his hardest way because he had a more concrete driving force. His father and uncle were Warriors of the empire, both were the elites in military. However when they died, they just gone... Nobody remembered them anymore in military, only their family remembered them.

So Slade did not want to end like his father and uncle, He had an oath to surpass what they had achieved, and Slade knew well it meant he had to get on the top of the military rank.

That's why Slade trained himself as hard as he could, honing all the fighting skills he could.. His physical abilities improved very well, becoming one of the best warrior in one on one battle. He went to numerous battles and he slayed the most in every battles. The story of his of his viciousness and relentless pursuit of victory had spread everywhere.

However Slade got into a situation that he realized that a blade would not change the flow of any war. He finally understood as long he kept fighting with his sword in his hand, he would only be a fighter... not a general... At that point Slade decided that he would learn more about tactic and strategy, and he aimed for the military rank, not only personal prowess on Battlefield.

However, as he he thought he could climb the ranks on the top... he witnessed the brutality of hypocrisy and corruption. He saw that only certain people with privileges could be counted as part of Empire's Military leadership.

And those military leaders actually did not care about the soldier, they only cared about their fame. Seeing this condition has shake Slade faith over military idealism. He started to questioned what he had fought for all this time.

When Slade started to lose faith of his ideal, suddenly Silus of the Rift came to him. Silus had been waiting for this opportunity, because he knew Slade was a soul he desired most for his army. Slade rejected Silus's offer because he knew Silus was supposed to be the Nemesis he needed to defeat to be the HERO.

However Silus of The Rift came back later after he prepared a material he needed most... which was the past visual. This visual managed to destroy all Slade believe and fait... It was about his father, which was killed in the battlefield because the Empire did not spend any resource to support that battle.

With burning hatred in his heart, Slade finally accepted Silus the Rift proposal. As they spent time together, Silus managed to instill his ideology into Slade mind, making him purely accepted that he should be part of the Chaos Legion Army.

As we can see right now, Commander Slade is one of the hero of Chaos Empire... Which Slade wanted to achieve if before in Belurocian Empire, but there was no opportunity to get that there. That's the untold story of how Slade switched side from Belurocian Empire to Chaos Empire.

Do you think It was a Betrayal? Or you agree with me that it was a destiny, written before the time arrived...

Thanks for reading my custom lore of Commander Slade here and have a fun in Splinterlands Battles!!!
