Hello! Today again I will take you to a natural place, those who follow my content know that I write mostly about trips and excursions, and this time I will show you a route to a waterfall that is practically only known and visited by the people who live in a nearby hamlet.
The route starts in a mountain in Guarenas, Miranda State (Venezuela), a town about half an hour from Caracas. To get there we went in hired cars, this excursion was organized by the people of the Caracas Hiking Center. When we arrived in the area, a man who lives in a hamlet there was waiting for us and he was going to be our guide through those unknown trails.
As soon as we started we could tell that this is not a place frequented by hikers, the path wasn't marked on the ground as seen in other routes, rather the guide went ahead with a machete cutting the vegetation so we could pass. We were all alert in case a snake appeared out there haha, the scenery is very nice and there are streams coming down from the mountain.
This area is known as Las Culebrillas sector and is part of Waraira Repano or Avila National Park.
When we had already been walking for about an hour we arrived at our goal, the waterfall, its name is El Encantado (The Enchanted), and indeed this whole place looks like it.
Our presence broke with the sounds that predominate there: the water falling, the leaves of the trees moving and the occasional bird singing.
Obviously the well where the waterfall falls is cold, the water comes down from the mountain super fresh and clean, several people in the group dived, I only got my feet and face wet. We spent about an hour at the waterfall, resting, eating and enjoying the surroundings, there is a part on one side where you can climb up and see it from another angle.
Then we left, although the waterfall was the highlight of this route, it was also nice the way back to the city, which we did through a different place than the one we took to go to it.
The nature here is so amazing, I hope this area will continue to be preserved like this, with very little human intervention.
We passed by a place called Casa del Canalero, it is like a stop where there is a small house, where you can camp and also cook with firewood. Then we continued to a hamlet known as Santa Rosa and from there we went to a road down the mountain that took us to the Metropolitan University.
The views of some areas of Caracas were already beginning to appear here.
It was 5:30 in the afternoon when we finished descending the mountain and arrived at the parking lot of the Metropolitan University. From there we went out to a street and took a bus to the nearest metro station, in Caracas it is very easy to change scenery, from nature to concrete and vice versa in a few minutes.
