Hello to all of you, I shared a post with you before that there might be good developments in my life and I didn't reveal what it was because I'm afraid of the evil eye when I reveal things before they happen. Now that things have become clearer, I'm happy to share with you the biggest development of my life. Calling all Hive users, I'm taking the first steps to marry the love of my life (@ezgicop)!
Yes, you heard that right. I've been away for a week and that's because I went to meet my girlfriend's family. Not only me, but also my mom, dad and grandmother were with us. Let me tell you the story. After a very long journey (15 hours by car) I arrived in the city of my girlfriend's family. It was a very tiring journey and I slept only 1 hour during the whole journey because I was giving directions to my dad. Not that I knew the way myself but I was using the navigation. My dad can't drive and use the navigation at the same time and I can't blame him for that. I couldn't drive the car either because I didn't have a driver's license yet. When the trip was over, it was 9 o'clock in the morning and it was very hot. It was not unusually hot, but coming from the village, the difference was too much and we were all overwhelmed.
Let's come to the part I was most excited about. The part where we met the family was very tense and exciting for me. Because we were meeting for the first time and everyone was very quiet. Silence is not a good thing in such situations. Luckily, @ezgicop's brother-in-law was there and he is an ideal person for such situations. He was very cheerful and always making people laugh. The topics he brought up helped both sides to get into the flow of the conversation. After a bit of chatting, we were ready for breakfast and I was faced with perhaps the most tense moment of these few days. I sat across from my girlfriend's father at my first breakfast!
Her father is definitely a very kind-hearted person but he spoke very little at first and I didn't know how he felt about me yet so I didn't know what to do. I could only eat very little even though I was starving haha. I thought I chose the worst place to sit during breakfast, so if you are in the same situation, don't sit opposite the girl's father. Towards the end of the breakfast, my girlfriend's brother-in-law told me that it was customary for the person who came to meet the family to eat eggs with sausage. I don't know why there was such a custom, but I knew I had to eat it at that moment. If I wasn't in that environment, no one would have made me eat the cold egg because I have a sensitive stomach, but at that moment I took a deep breath and ate the egg. Luckily I didn't have any stomach problems.
Then we went to the village to meet @ezgicop's grandfather and grandmother. They welcomed us very warmly there. They were both really friendly and good people. His grandmother wrapped sarma for us and it was very delicious. The hospitality of the people of that region is already known by everyone, but I also witnessed it. They told me that they were very happy to meet me, which was very pleasing. That day we stayed at his grandfather's house in the village.
When we woke up the next day, it was the big day. Normally it would have been just introductions, but her grandmother and father came up with the idea of putting a ring on it because we had come so far. I was never cold to this idea and I accepted. When you see the photos with the ring before reading this article, I am sure you will all think that we are engaged, but we are not engaged yet. We realized the stage before the engagement where we only wear a ring, which we call "promise" in Turkey. I can say that this was the most exciting moment I experienced there.
If we go into details, first of all, I should talk about the salty coffee, which is also a custom in Turkey. The bride-to-be brings a coffee to the groom-to-be and throws salt in it. This used to mean different things in the Ottoman Empire, but let's not go any further. If you are curious, you can read here. If you have never had salty coffee before, don't try it. It's something every person should try at least once in their life. It burns your throat, it's a different feeling. I don't know how to describe this taste, there is a video about that moment. I leave it here in case you want to watch it. No matter how much I try to hide it, the taste of coffee can be seen on my face XD

After drinking my coffee, even if it was difficult, it was time to put on the rings. Normally we have a different custom when we put on the rings, but I won't share it here because we didn't experience it. My girlfriend's uncle cut the ribbon directly and at that moment my heart was about to burst. If our families weren't there, I would have hugged her a lot, but I didn't want to be disrespectful.
We didn't go there in large numbers and my girlfriend's relatives weren't very crowded either. Still, their closest relatives were there. We took some beautiful photos together and I have attached some of them to the post. I must say it was one of the happiest days of my life. I really don't know how to express it but my heart was beating out of my chest. You can already see the happiness on my face in the photos.
It is a wonderful experience for me to share this process with you. I am very grateful to the OCD community and the Turkish community for being with me throughout the process. They all supported me psychologically. Their good wishes were always with me and I felt it in my heart. I can say that I have opened a new page in my life. Thank you very much for witnessing this. Hepinize merhaba, sizlerle daha önce hayatımda güzel gelişmeler olabileceğine dair bir post paylaşmıştım ve ne olduğunu açıklamadım çünkü bir şeyleri olmadan açıkladığım zaman nazar değmesinden korkuyorum. Şimdi bazı şeyler netliğe kavuştuğuna gördüğüne sizlerle hayatımın en büyük gelişmesini paylaşmaktan mutluluk duyuyorum. Bütün Hive kullanıcılarına sesleniyorum, hayatımın aşkıyla(@ezgicop) evlenmek için ilk adımları atıyorum!
Evet, doğru duydunuz. Bir haftadır buralarda yoktum ve bunun sebebi kız arkadaşımın ailesiyle tanışmaya gitmemdi. Sadece ben değil annem, babam ve anneannem de bizlerleydi. Size hikayeyi anlatmama izin verin. Çok uzun bir yolculuktan sonra(15 saat araba yolculuğu) kız arkadaşımın ailesinin şehrine ulaştım. Çok yorucu bir yolculuktu ve yol boyunca sadece 1 saat uyudum çünkü babama yolu tarif ediyordum. Kendim bildiğim için değil ama navigasyonu ben kullanıyordum. Babam aynı anda hem arabayı kullanıp hem navigasyonu kullanamıyor ve bunun için onu suçlayamam. Henüz ehliyetim olmadığı için arabayı ben de kullanamıyordum. Yolculuk bittiğinde sabah saat 9'du ve hava çok sıcaktı. Alışık olmadığım bir sıcak değil ama köyden geldiğim için aradaki fark çok fazlaydı ve bu da hepimizi bunalttı.
En heyecanlandığım kısma gelelim. Aileyle tanıştığımız kısım benim için çok gergin ve heyecanlıydı. Çünkü ilk defa tanışıyorduk ve herkes çok sessizdi. Sessizlik böyle durumlarda pek iyi bir şey değildir. Neyse ki, @ezgicop'un eniştesi oradaydı ve böyle durumlar için ideal bir insan. Çok neşeli ve sürekli insanları güldüren biriydi. Onun açtığı konular iki tarafın da sohbete girmesini sağladı. Biraz sohbetten sonra kahvaltı etmeye hazırdık ve belki de bu birkaç günün en gergin anıyla karşı karşıya kaldım. İlk kahvaltımda kız arkadaşımın babasının karşısına oturdum!
Babası kesinlikle çok iyi kalpli bir insan ama başlarda çok az konuştu ve henüz benim hakkımda ne hissettiğini bilmediğim için ne yapacağımı bilemedim. Açlıktan ölmek üzere olmama rağmen çok az yemek yiyebildim haha. Kahvaltı esnasında oturulabilecek en berbat yeri seçtiğimi düşündüm, eğer siz aynı duruma düşerseniz kızın babasının karşısına oturmayın. Kahvaltının sonuna doğru kız arkadaşımın eniştesi aileyle tanışmaya gelen kişinin sucuklu yumurta yemesinin bir adet olduğunu söyledi. Neden böyle bir adet olduğunu bilmiyorum fakat o an onu yemem gerektiğini biliyordum. Eğer o ortamda olmasaydım soğumuş yumurtayı bana kimse yediremezdi çünkü midem hassastır ama o an derin bir nefes aldım ve yumurtayı yedim. Şanslıyım ki midemle ilgili herhangi bir problem yaşamadım.
Daha sonra @ezgicop'ün büyükbabası ve babaannesiyle tanışmak için köye gittik. Orada bizi çok sıcak karşıladılar. Gerçekten ikisi de çok sıcakkanlı ve iyi insanlardı. Babaannesi biz geleceğimiz için sarma sarmış ve çok lezzetliydi. O yörenin insanının misafirperverliği zaten herkes tarafından bilinir ama ben de tanık olmuş oldum. Benimle tanıştıkları için çok sevindiklerini söylediler ki bu mutluluk vericiydi. O gün köyde büyükbabasının evinde kaldık.
Ertesi gün uyandığımızda büyük gündü. Normalde sadece tanışma olacaktı ama büyükannesi ve babası biz çok uzaktan geldiğimiz için bir yüzük takma fikrini öne sürdü. Bu fikre asla soğuk değildim ve kabul ettim. Bu yazıyı okumadan yüzükle olan fotoğrafları görünce eminim hepiniz nişanlandığımızı sanacaksınız ama henüz nişanlanmadık. Türkiye'de "söz" dediğimiz sadece yüzük taktığımız nişandan önceki evreyi gerçekleştirdik. Bu da orada yaşadığım en heyecanlı andı diyebilirim.
Detaylara inecek olursak, öncelikle yine Türkiye'deki bir adetimiz olan tuzlu kahveden bahsetmeliyim. Gelin adayı damat adayına bir kahve getirir ve içine tuz atar. Bu daha öncesinde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda farklı anlama geliyormuş ama konuyu daha fazla uzatmayalım. Merak ediyorsanız buradan okuyabilirsiniz. Tuzlu kahveyi daha önce içmediyseniz sakın denemeyin. Her insanın hayatında maksimum bir kere denemesi gereken bir şey. İnsanın boğazını yakıyor, farklı bir his. Bu tadı nasıl tarif edebilirim bilmiyorum. O ana dair bir video var. İzlemek isterseniz diye buraya bırakıyorum. Ne kadar saklamaya çalışsam da yüzümden kahvenin tadı belli oluyor XD

Zor da olsa kahvemi içtikten sonra sıra yüzükleri takmaya geldi. Normalde yüzük takarken de farklı bir adetimiz vardır ama onu burada paylaşmayacağım çünkü yaşamadık. Kız arkadaşımın dayısı kurdeleyi direkt olarak kesti ve o an kalbim yerinden çıkacak gibiydi. Ailelerimiz orada olmasaydı ona doyasıya sarılırdım ama saygısızlık yapmak istemedim.
Biz oraya çok kalabalık gitmemiştik ve kız arkadaşımın akrabaları da çok kalabalık değildi. Yine de onların en yakın akrabaları oradaydı. Birlikte güzel fotoğraflar çekindik onların bazılarını posta ekledim. Hayatımın en mutlu günlerinden biri olduğunu söylemeliyim. Gerçekten nasıl ifade edebilirim bilmiyorum ama kalbim yerinden çıkacak gibiydi. Zaten fotoğraflarda yüzümdeki mutluluğu görebilirsiniz.
Bu süreci sizlerle paylaşmak benim için harika bir deneyimdi. Süreç boyunca yanımda olan OCD topluluğuna, Türk topluluğuna çok minnettarım. Hepsi bana psikolojik olarak çok destek oldu. İyi dilekleri hep benimleydi ve bunu kalbimde hissettim. Artık hayatımda yeni bir sayfa açtım diyebilirim. Buna tanıklık ettiğiniz için size de çok teşekkür ederim.
