Barbados Trident

The island of Barbados celebrates their 1966 independence from the UK, the broken Trident with the head floating on the ocean symbolizes the broken ties. The Trident was held by the mythical Greek god Poseidon, a symbol of ocean power (Source).

Barbados Trident 1oz Silver Coin

This 1oz 999 fine silver Barbados Trident coin was minted by Scottsdale Mint - a well known mint from Scottsdale Arizona.

The backside of the coin features the head of the broken Trident floating on the ocean with a background of intricate radial and concentric wavy lines that remind me of the Looney Toons cartoon outro.

Pearl like dots line the outside curve of the coin. The text "ONE DOLLAR" is along the bottom curve. On the left inside curve is the text ".999 FINE SILVER", on the right inside curve is the text "ONE TROY OUNCE".

The front side of the coin features the Barbados coat of arms - with the fig tree, pride of Barbados flowers, a dolphin, a pelican, and sugarcane, representing both land and sea. An arm rises from behind clutching the broken staff of the Trident. The coat of arms banner text reads "Pride and Industry". The coat of arms is flanked on both sides by a small Trident head - the text "20" and "21" are above the tridents on the left and right to represent the year of minting, 2021. "BARBADOS" is along the bottom curve of the coin, the outside curve of the coin is lined with pearl-like dots.

Zodiac Copper Rounds

A couple more 999 fine copper zodiac rounds, minted by an unknown US Mint, these ones are the Pisces and Aquarius celestial signs. Copper coins are not worthy of stacking, but I've found these zodiac rounds fun to collect. Celestial bodies have guided navigation for thousands of years before other navigation instruments were available.

Both round fronts have the zodiac symbols along the outside edge. Pisces the fish with it's yearly February 20 - March 20 date range. Aquarius the Water Bearer is pouring out it's waters with the January 22 - February 19 date range (Source).

The back side of these Zodiac rounds feature the 12-year Chinese Zodiac, with the twelve animals placed around the yin yang symbols, along with their respective years. Along the top of the round is the text "COPPER .999 FINE - USA", along the bottom of the round is the text "ONE A.V.P.D. OUNCE". The A.V.P.D. or Avoirdupois ounce is the regular non Troy ounce standard of 28.35 grams.
