SGS Now Using Hive Engine to Lease Hive Power

After offering up our community leases to Non-Members of SGS a couple of days ago it already looks like we’ve tapped out our immediate options for Handshake Deals. Yesterday I thought I’d give the new leasing functionality of Hive Engine a try and I managed to pick up a 5K lease in pretty quick time so it looks like this will be a viable alternative for us to use this year as a replacement for DLease - which we've used for 3rd party leasing in the past.

I’ve put up another bid for a larger 10K Lease and after about 12 hours nobody has snapped it up yet so I might need to use multiple smaller 5K Lease Bids to get our orders filled. One of the drawbacks of picking up leases this way is that we need to pay many weeks in advance to put up the most attractive rates on offer. This is OK for now because we have a bit of a surplus of Liquid Hive from our Weekly Powerdown but we won’t always have the cashflow/liquidity to be able to do it this way.

At time of writing the Hive Power on our Community Curation Project is sitting at 415K so we’re still short of our target by about 35K. I’m pretty confident that we can pick up an extra 5K to 10K per week using Hive Engine if we are patient so we should be able to hit our target some time in August. I do have a couple of leads to pick up more Hive Power via Handshake Deals but they are still pending and may not come through. Therefore I think the best thing to do is carry on with Hive Engine rather than hold our breath and hope those other deals come through.

That said, if you are sitting on the sidelines and are still interested in this limited opportunity to lease SGS some of your Hive Power then NOW is the time to speak up. I expect this opportunity will be closed off in the next few weeks so if you’re not on the books by then you will unfortunately miss out.
