A favourite Yotutube channel is very difficult, I have many that I like, but for the purposes of the initiative in this community, I have chosen this channel that I have been following for seven years.

About seven years ago, several Hispanic Americans who had emigrated to Canada started to become very popular. All of them showed the positive things about that country where they were able to start a new life and were presented with opportunities. I started to consume their content because at that time I saw that country as an option to emigrate.
When I watched one of those channels, immediately the youtube algorithm would start throwing me suggestions of similar channels. It was there that I saw Planeta Juan for the first time. I was struck by the fact that he had the same name as me and that the thumbnail of the video was a Canadian girl, who was his girlfriend at the time.
The video was in Montreal and in winter time. If we compare it with his current videos, there is a big difference in image and sound quality. This video was simple but everything he showed was nicely done. This youtuber is Colombian, a country whose culture is very similar to mine and maybe that's why I connect more easily with his style.
I think this has been one of the elements that has played in his favour for his current success. He spices his videos with that dose of humour that we Hispanic Americans understand very well. Since its beginnings, Planeta Juan has informed and even educated on many occasions, but in a very entertaining way, because we must not forget that the public is looking for entertainment.
Hace unos siete años, varios hispanoamericanos que habían emigrado a Canadá empezaron a hacerse muy populares. Todos ellos mostraban las cosas positivas de ese país donde pudieron empezar una nueva vida y se les presentaron oportunidades. Empecé a consumir sus contenidos porque en ese momento veía ese país como una opción para emigrar.
Cuando veía uno de esos canales, inmediatamente el algoritmo de youtube empezaba a lanzarme sugerencias de canales similares. Fue allí donde vi por primera vez a Planeta Juan. Me llamó la atención que se llamara igual que yo y que la miniatura del vídeo fuera una chica canadiense, que por aquel entonces era su novia.
El vídeo era en Montreal y en horario de invierno. Si lo comparamos con sus vídeos actuales, se nota mucha diferencia en cuanto a calidad de imagen y sonido. Este vídeo era sencillo pero todo lo que mostraba estaba hecho de forma agradable. Este youtuber es colombiano, un país cuya cultura es muy parecida a la mía y quizá por eso conecte mas fácil su estilo.
Creo que ese ha sido uno de los elementos que ha jugado a su favor para el éxito que tiene ahora. Adereza sus vídeos con esa dosis de humor que los hispanoamericanos entendemos muy bien. Desde sus inicios Planeta Juan informa e incluso educa en muchas ocasiones, pero de una forma muy entretenida, porque no hay que olvidar que el público busca entretenimiento.
He spent a long time promoting and teaching us all about Canada. From how many things you could buy with 20 Canadian dollars, to visiting the city's neighbourhoods, his experience as an immigrant and the opportunities the country offered for both students and professionals looking for a new start. There were also videos of trips and walks with his girlfriend, with whom he made a good couple, but who ended their relationship a couple of years ago, because that's life.
When you follow video content creators, you end up knowing a lot about them, as they will always have videos telling something of their private life, you will even meet their family members and during those minutes we accompany them on their travels. This young yotuber has a great personality, an adventurous spirit, you can feel his sincerity when he talks and he also has excellent communication skills. I think that's why he is one of my favourite channels.
Durante mucho tiempo se dedicó a promocionar y enseñarnos todo sobre Canadá. Desde cuántas cosas se podían comprar con 20 dólares canadienses, hasta la visita a los barrios de esa ciudad, su experiencia como inmigrante y las oportunidades que el país ofrecía tanto para estudiantes como para profesionales en busca de un nuevo comienzo. También había vídeos de viajes y paseos con su novia, con la que hizo buena pareja, pero que terminó su relación hace un par de años, porque así es la vida.
Cuando sigues a creadores de contenido en vídeo, acabas sabiendo mucho de ellos, ya que siempre tendrán vídeos contando algo de su vida privada, incluso conocerás a los miembros de su familia y durante esos minutos les acompañamos en sus viajes. Este joven yotuber tiene una gran personalidad, un espíritu aventurero, se nota su sinceridad cuando habla y además tiene una excelente capacidad de comunicación. Creo que por eso es uno de mis canales favoritos.
Evolution.
Those who have followed it since its beginnings have also witnessed its constant progress. It is a channel that has been evolving and for the better. After showing and educating about Canadian culture and the opportunities it offers to those who want to move there, Planeta Juan started to become more of a travel vlog to all corners of Canada. The youtuber has visited Canadian towns that almost nobody knows about, far from the big cities. Always with his style, which has not changed and makes him stand out.
When there were no more places left to show from Canada, videos of trips to other countries became more frequent. Although when he was more focused on Canada, he also had videos of some of the trips he made to other nations. During the Pandemic era there were a number of videos that I found very amusing, especially when he almost missed a flight back to Canada, he had to juggle and be creative to get there before all the flights were cancelled, something that generated criticism from people watching the video.
It was about three years ago that his content became more international, as he travelled to more countries. Russia, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, African countries. You could feel the change. It was no longer Canada, it was the whole world he was showing on his channel.

Quienes lo han seguido desde sus inicios también han sido testigos de su constante progreso. Es un canal que ha ido evolucionando y para bien. Tras mostrar y educar sobre la cultura canadiense y las oportunidades que ofrece a quienes quieren mudarse allí, Planeta Juan comenzó a convertirse más en un vlog de viajes por todos los rincones de Canadá. El youtuber ha visitado pueblos canadienses que casi nadie conoce, alejados de las grandes ciudades. Siempre con su estilo, que no ha cambiado y le hace destacar.
Cuando ya no quedaban lugares que mostrar de Canadá, los vídeos de viajes a otros países se hicieron más frecuentes. Aunque cuando estaba más centrado en Canadá, también tenía vídeos de algunos de los viajes que hacía a otras naciones. Durante la época de Pandemia hubo una serie de vídeos que me parecieron muy divertidos, especialmente cuando casi pierde un vuelo de regreso a Canada, tenía que hacer malabares y ser creativo para poder llegar antes de que cancelaran todos los vuelos, algo que generó críticas de la gente que veía el vídeo.
Fue hace unos tres años cuando su contenido se hizo más internacional, ya que viajó a más países. Rusia, México, Colombia, Italia, países africanos. Se notaba el cambio. Ya no era Canadá, era el mundo entero lo que mostraba en su canal.

Planeta Juan se ha convertido en una especie de reportero. Un comunicador social. Esta sed de aventura le ha llevado a Ucrania, donde compartió una asociación civil que producía alimentos para los que estaban en el frente. Ha viajado por países africanos mostrando sus realidades. También viajo a Cuba y Venezuela, realizando una serie de video reportajes donde explica detalladamente, todo el entramado económico de estos países, algo que los habitantes de estos países agradecen enormemente, dando visibilidad a realidades que para muchos es difícil de creer. ¿Cómo no admirar el trabajo que está haciendo este youtuber? ¿Crees que puede hacerlo mejor? Coge una cámara y hazlo.
Sus últimos vídeos son de un viaje por diferentes países del mundo. La calidad de sus vídeos es muy buena. También se nota que se prepara e investiga para ofrecernos información interesante. Ahora tiene dos millones y medio de seguidores en youtube, pero creo que se merece tener más difusión.
