My friends sometimes ask me, “what is your favourite food?” I guess most people will say a pizza or an Indian curry or even a shepherds pie.
For me it is easy. I love a Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato or ‘BLT’ toasted sandwich. as some people call it
But, not just any ‘BLT’ as I like mine prepared carefully. Firstly, the bread is very important. If it is too thick or too thin or white instead of brown, it’s not going to satisfy me.
The bacon, the main ingredient of a ‘BLT’ is also very important. It must be cooked properly too. Ideally, streaky bacon that has been grilled long enough to make it crispy is the way I really like it.
When it comes to the lettuce. It should ideally be fresh and crispy to eat and there should not be too much forced into the sandwich. Another important thing about the lettuce in a BLT sandwich is that it must NOT be wet.
The last main ingredient, the tomato is also a major ingredient of a BLT sandwich. It too should not be wet, or soggy and not sliced too thick, or too thin.
To finish a BLT sandwich, a little bit of mayonnaise is important. Too much, will cause it to drip out of the sandwich. Too little, it would not provide any added flavour to the sandwich.
