Hola HIVE espero todos se encuentren muy bien haciendo alguna actividad creativa.
This week I was invited to a two-day intensive class that took place at the facilities of the Andres Bello Catholic University (ucab) organized by the
macollacreativa project on intensive was led by the plastic artist
Juan Carlos Urrutia, this class was titled "TRADITION + MEDIA = MIXED" and it was a very interesting experience that helped me see beyond the conventional to experience the greatest number of possibilities that may arise in the creative process. This was a workshop focused on directing creative vision in mixed media to generate new creative experiences with the most basic resources.
Esta semana me invitaron para una clase intensiva de dos dias que se llevo acabo en las instalaciones de la Universidad Catolica Andres Bello (ucab) organizado por el proyecto
macolla creativa el intensivo estuvo acargo del artista plastico
Juan Carlos Urrutia, esta clase estaba titulada "TRADICION + MEDIOS = MIXTOS" y fue una experiencia muy interesante que me ayudo a ver mas alla de lo convencional para experimentar la mayor cantidad de posibilidades que puedan presentarse en el proceso creativo. este era un taller enfocado en dirigir la vision creativa en los medios mixtos para generar nuevas experiencias creativas con los recursos mas basicos.
After the conversation we visited an exhibition room that is located in the Magis Room of the UCAB Cultural Center, there was an exhibition set up titled "CHRONOTOPÍAS" in which you can see works by 21 Venezuelan artists, including paintings, photographs, engravings, collages, sculptures, video art and digital art; a conglomerate of works that captivate the viewer with their innovative and expressive presentations; I love all of this, because I study the specialty of mixed media and having this contact with the work of so many artists who use mixed media helped me expand my horizons and visualize many of the possibilities to express myself using new media.
Despues del conversatorio visitamos una sala de exposicion que esta ubicada en la Sala Magis del Centro Cultural de la UCAB, habia una exposicion montada titulada "CRONOTOPÍAS" muestra en la que se pueden apreciar obras de 21 artistas Venezolanos, entre pinturas, fotografias, grabados, collages, esculturas, video arte y arte digital; un conglomerado de obras que cautivan al espectador con sus innovadoras y expresivas presentaciones; todo esto me encanta, porque yo estudio la especialidad de medios mixtos y tener este contacto con la obra de tantos artistas que manejan los medios mixtos me ayudo a expandir mis horizontes y vizualizar muchas de las posibilidasdes para expresarme usando nuevos medios.
Then we began with the creative activities, first we selected one or two specific works to use as a reference in the creations that we were going to make in the intensive, I chose the work of Yeni and Nan, a series of photographs where they expose a graphic narrative of a person wrapped in white cloth and has several ties. We had to make a quick version of how this work could be made from our point of view using other basic materials. The first day we were experimenting with the infinite possibilities in which the selected work could be reinterpreted. It was a very interesting experience that all participants We appreciate it because it allowed us to leave our comfort zone to delve into the new means of artistic expression. Together with my colleagues we carried out several very enriching creative exercises.
Luego comenzamos con las actividades creativas, primero seleccionamos una o dos obras en especifico para usar de referencia en las creaciones que ibamos a realizar en el intensivo, yo elegí la obra de Yeni y Nan una serie de fotografias en donde exponen una narrativa grafica de una persona envuelta en telas blancas y tiene varios amarres. Teniamos que realizar una version rapida de como se podria realizar esa obra desde nuestro punto de vista usando otros materiales basicos, el primer dia estuvimos experimentando con las infinitas posibilidades en que se podia reinterpretar la obra seleccionada, fue una experiencia muy interesante que todos los participantes apreciamos, porque nos permitio salir de nuestra zona de confort para adentrarnos en los nuevos medios de expresion artistica, junto a mis compañerpos realizamos varios ejercicios creativos muy enriquecedores.
When the first day of intensive was over, I went out to tour the UCAB campus for a while, because I wanted to appreciate the great variety of sculptural pieces that are all over the place, there is also a large mural by Juvenal Ravelo, another master national plastic artist, really. That day was very nutritious in all aspects.
Cuando culmino el primer dia de intensivo sali a recorrer un rato el campus de la UCAB, porque queria apreciar la gran variedad de piezas escultoricas que hay por todo el lugar, tambien hay un gran mural de Juvenal Ravelo otro maestro artista plastico nacional, de verdad ese dia fue muy nutritivo en todos los aspectos.
The second day of the intensive we worked with the work of the plastic artist Magdalena Fernandez who has a career in investigating the connections and intertwinings between points and lines using that concept to create wonderful pieces of art and interactive penetrable installations for the viewer. We performed several exercises using plasticine and tall sticks, we experimented with making interlocking connections using the plasticine as connecting axes of the sticks, we obtained very interesting results, which helped us understand the space that surrounds a work and the planning process that must be carried out taking takes into account every aspect of the handling and transportation of a plastic work.
El segundo dia de intensivo trabajamos con la obra de la artista plastica Magdalena Fernandez quien tiene una trayectoria en la investigacion de las conexiones y entrelazamientos entre puntos y lineas usando ese concepto para crear maravillosas piezas de arte e instalaciones penetrables interactivas para el espectador. Realizamos varios ejercicios usando plastilina y palillos de altura, experimentamos realizando conexiones entrelazadas usando la plastilina como ejes conectores de los palillos, obtuvimos resultados muy interesantes, que nos ayudaron a comprender el espacio que rodea una obra y el proceso de planeacion que hay que realizar tomando en cuenta cada aspecto de la manipulacion y transporte de una obra plastica.
At lunchtime I took the opportunity to visit an exhibition of the architecture faculty that was exhibited in the library, it was a series of miniature scale models of prototypes of buildings created by students, it was really very interesting to be able to appreciate those small, but magnificent creations full of shapes, patterns, volumes and intricate connections that give structure to the projected ideas of the country's future architects.
En la hora de almuerzo aproveche para visitar una exposicion de la facultad de arquitectura que estaba exhibida en la biblioteca, era una serie de maquetas a escala miniatura de prototipos de edificios creados por estudiantes, de verdad fue muy interesante poder apreciar esas pequeñas, pero magnificas creaciones llenas de formas, patrones, volumenes e intrincadas conexiones que dan estructura a las ideas proyectadas de los futuros arquitectos del pais.
We continued with day 2 of the intensive, the previous day they had asked us to bring a personal object that had sentimental value; I carried a small lighter that is shaped like an iron cannon. I inherited this object from my father and I have great sentimental value in it; We carried out a very interesting activity, first we made a drawing using words that were related to all the feelings and emotions that that object generates in me, the second exercise was to represent the emotions previously written in the drawing by making a plastic work that groups those emotions, we had many stationery materials to make the piece, all of these last exercises were related to my childhood and the bond I had with my father.
Continuamos con el dia 2 del intensivo, el dia anterior nos habian solicitado traer un objeto personal que tuviera un valor sentimental; yo lleve un pequeño encendedor que tiene forma de cañon de hierro, este objeto lo herede de mi padre y le tengo un gran valor sentimental; realizamos una actividad muy interesante, primero realizamos un dibujo usando palabras que estuvieran relacionadas a todos los sentimientos y emociones que me genera ese objeto, el segundo ejercicio era representar las emociones antes escritas en el dibujo realizando una obra plastica que agrupe esas emociones, tuvimos muchos materiales de papeleria para realizar la pieza, todo esteos ultimos ejercicios estuvieron relacionados con mi infancia y el vinculo que tuve con mi padre.
Finally, we carry out an installation to understand the use of space and how we can cover large dimensions with a work using very simple objects such as cardboard and adhesive tape, easy to transport in a simple folder and by installing the work, we can cover a large exhibition space.
Por ultimo realizamos una instalacion para comprender el uso del espacio y como podemos abarcar grandes dimensiones con una obra usando objetos muy simples como cartulinas y cinta adhesiva, facil de transportar en una simple carpeta y al instalar la obra, podemos cubrir un gran espacio de exposicion.
This experience was truly very enriching in terms of understanding plastic arts and the use of mixed media to express human feelings and their spiritual connections; Being able to participate in this meeting allowed me to see beyond everyday conventionalities, it motivated me to develop several lines of research to create several workshops with which I can generate the same result that the intensive genre generated in my evolution and artistic growth. I hope to be able to repeat this type of learning and evolution experiences again; I hope you like this post, good vibes.
De verdad esta experiencia resulto muy enriquecedora a nivel de entendimiento de la plastica y el uso de los medios mixtos para expresar el sentir humano y sus conexiones expirituales; haber podido participar en este encuenttro me permitio ver mas alla de las convencionalidades cotidianas, me motive a desarrollar varias lineas de investigacion para crear varios talleres con los que pueda lograr generar este mismo resultado que el intensivo genero en mi evolucion y crecimiento artistico. espero poder repetir nuevamente este tipo de experiencias de aprendizaje y evolucion; espero que este post sea de su agrado, buenas vibras.
