El día de hoy vengo a contarles sobre las Postales Navideñas, una actividad que he realizado junto a estudiantes desde el año pasado, en está ocasión lo hice junto a mi compañera de trabajo como actividad para finalizar el trimestre de clases de arte de los niños y niñas junto a sus padres.
Hello to all art lovers who are with me reading this publication. Today I come to tell you about the Christmas Cards, an activity that I have done with students since last year, this time I did it with my coworker as an activity to end the term of art classes for children with their parents.
Creo que antes no lo he dicho, pero soy profe de artes y junto a una amiga doy clases a niños, adolescentes y adultos, aunque son los niños nuestro principal grupo de trabajo. En fin, está actividad de la elaboración de postales la haríamos para cerrar el trimestre de clases en el que trabajamos las técnicas de dibujo.
I don't think I have said it before, but I am an art teacher and together with a friend I teach children, teenagers and adults, although children are our main working group. Anyway, we would do this activity of making postcards to close the term of classes in which we worked on drawing techniques.
Y antes de hacer cualquier actividad de clases nos gusta tener un ejemplo para que nuestros estudiantes puedan guiarse con visualmente.

Para hacer estás postales trabajé sobre unos retazos de cartulina sulfatada, este tipo de soporte tiene un lado brillante y otro por el que se trabaja muy bien la acuarela, que es la técnica que usaría para esto.
Busque el tamaño postal en Google, pero me fui por la opción de sacar una fotografía del álbum para copiar el tamaño más fácilmente, después de todo al siguiente día sería la actividad así que no había tiempo que perder.

To make these postcards I worked on some scraps of cardboard, this type of support has a shiny side and another one that works very well with watercolor, which is the technique I would use for this.
I looked up the postcard size on Google, but I went for the option of taking a picture from the album to copy the size more easily, after all the next day would be the activity so there was no time to waste.
Me gusta darle un estilo antiguo a las cartulinas con manchas realizadas a base del pigmento del café. Por suerte para esta parte del proceso tuve un ayudante 😅.
I like to give a vintage style to the cardstock with stains made from the coffee pigment. Luckily I had a helper for this part of the process 😅
Al pensar en postales lo que llega a mi mente son las rayitas azules y rojas por todo el borde del rectángulo. Por esa razón agarre una escuadra y comencé con la acuarela a marcar una por una esas pequeñas marcas, después de las primeras cinco ya me había cansado. De todas formas había que terminar.

Este es el segundo diseño de postal, en este caso si no me enfoque en medir línea por línea, aquí el proceso si fue más de ir directamente con la acuarela azul haciendo todos los detalles. Cada postal tenía un dibujo navideño distinto, en este caso opte por unas bambalinas que repase luego con marcador punta fina.
This is the second postcard design, in this case I didn't focus on measuring line by line, here the process was more of going directly with the blue watercolor making all the details. Each postcard had a different Christmas drawing, in this case I opted for some scenery that I went over with a fine tip marker.
Para este último, usé el pigmento de café únicamente. La idea era hacer tres arbolitos en lo que se tenía que ver una diferencia de tonalidades para lograr conseguir más detalles. El café se trabaja tal y como se hace con la acuarela, la cantidad de agua es lo que te va a cambiar el tono del café sobre el papel.
Para finalizar tocó con el marcador fino negro escribir el feliz navidad en todas las tarjetas.

For this last one, I used the coffee pigment only. The idea was to make three little trees in which a difference of tonalities had to be seen in order to achieve more details. The coffee is worked as it is done with watercolor, the amount of water is what will change the tone of the coffee on the paper.
Finally, it was time to use the fine black marker to write Merry Christmas on all the cards.
Hacer postales es algo que me encanta en esta fecha, son sencillas y al mismo tiempo ofrecen bonitos resultados. Además, la actividad se enfoca en realizar esa postal para escribir palabras especiales a nuestros seres queridos.
Making postcards is something I love to do on this date, they are simple and at the same time offer beautiful results. Besides, the activity focuses on making that postcard to write special words to our loved ones.
Y bueno , estas son las postales que hicieron los representantes y estudiantes el día de la exposición de arte. Para ser adultos que no agarran un lápiz para dibujar desde que están en prescolar tuvieron muy buenos resultados y lo mejor es que pudieron disfrutar el proceso y entender un poco más el trabajo que hacemos en clases con sus hijos.
And well, these are the postcards that the representatives and students made on the day of the art exhibition. For adults who have not picked up a pencil to draw since they were in preschool they had very good results and the best thing is that they were able to enjoy the process and understand a little more the work we do in class with their children.
