Mi encuentro con el Scrabble comenzó hace muchos, muchos años, en los tiempos de la Universidad. Por aquel entonces tenía una amiga a la que le gustaba el juego. Desde entonces me he dedicado no solo a jugar Scrabble, sino también a darlo a conocer a todo el que quiera; son muchas las personas a las que he enseñado a jugar. Pero vamos a estar claros, es un juego que tiene su nivel de exigencia y algunas personas no tienen la paciencia suficiente para jugarlo.
En mi pequeño grupo familiar solo mi hermano menor se interesó en aprenderlo, ni a mi madre ni a mis otros hermanos les llamó suficientemente la atención. Igual pasa con mis hijos, a todos los enseñé, pero no logré que se entusiasmaran como para que lo jugaran con regularidad. Más suerte tuve con mis compañeros de trabajo, hubo un tiempo en que nos reuníamos a jugar algunas partidas en un cafetín cercano al liceo donde todos trabajábamos.
En la actualidad mi gran compañera de juego es mi esposa, @damarysvibra. Son muchas las veces en que armamos una buena partida. Mi esposa es una jugadora excelente, con un gran nivel, y tiene una memoria prodigiosa para esas combinaciones de dos letras que se vuelven imprescindibles al final de las partidas.

En su desarrollo hay una combinación de suerte e ingenio, porque las letras se escogen al azar y a veces te vienen puras consonantes, ahí el asunto se pone difícil, igual pasa cuando te llegan puras vocales. Con este tipo de jugadores las partidas se pueden poner extremadamente complicadas. Mi esposa y yo procuramos abrir juego así no tengamos muchos puntos durante las primeras jugadas, de ese modo la partida se hace más fluida.
Otro punto importante a tomar en cuenta, sobre todo cuando la partida es de cuatro jugadores, es poner un límite de tiempo para hacer la jugada. Uno de nuestros Scrabbles traía incorporado un pequeño reloj de arena que duraba unos tres minutos.
Si no se pone límite de tiempo la partida se puede volver interminable. Cuando se está jugando cada quien está tan concentrado en la mejor manera de combinar sus letras, que pierde la noción del tiempo. A veces mi esposa me dice que ya llevo más de cinco minutos pensando y a mí me parece que solo han pasado unos segundos.
Otra recomendación es aprender palabras de dos y tres letras, eso es fundamental al final de las partidas cuando casi no existe el espacio para las palabras más largas.
