The Purus Padang Beach area is often visited by tourists to just relax and enjoy the waves. Various forms of odong-odong are available in this area. The vehicles that enliven residents' tourist attractions come from motorbikes or cars that have been made to look attractive. This vehicle can accommodate around 18-25 passengers.
This odong-odong driver's income is no less than the salary of an employee in general. This was expressed by Irwansyah (49), an odong-odong driver whose lap was at Purus Beach, Padang. According to him, the biggest income he gets depends on a particular day. For example, on Saturdays and Sundays, you can get up to IDR 400,000.00, whereas on weekdays it's around IDR 200,000.00.
Likewise with the odong-odong driver whose loop is outside Purus beach. As stated by Rudi, the odong-odong driver from Bunguih was hired specifically to go to Purus Beach by passengers. According to him, income on a normal day is around IDR 400,000.00-IDR 500,000.00. Meanwhile, Saturday and Sunday reached one and a half million rupiah.
Rudi's odong-odong passengers don't need to worry about the per head rate. Depends on the distance to be traveled. If the round is only Bunguih and its surroundings, you will be charged IDR 5,000.00 per head. Meanwhile, for catering from Bunguih to Purus Beach, passengers only need to pay IDR 20,000.00 round trip (PP). "It's not bad for buying one cigarette, the rest is for buying more odong-odong," said Rudi with a chuckle on Friday 20 September.
