The second TeamPH Splinterlands tournament was held last May 28. It was a Silver level modern competition with anytime submission enabled for 24 hours. I was among the first few contenders who submitted their battle lineups. And at one point I was on the top spot at 3 wins and zero losses. But that glorious moment was short lived, about ten minutes, as other players enter and I started to take losses in succession.
And when the dust finally settled, I ranked 16th out of 22 participants. This just shows how good Filipino Splinterlands players are. Even on the silver league which is usually the rank I play on, my performance ended up a little bit on the poor side. But I'm still happy since I've received great rewards from this tournament. Thanks to the sponsors, I received 500 THGAMING and 25 PIMP tokens which far exceeds the 25 DEC entry fee.
Another cool thing that happened is that during Damour, Mochilub and Damienwolf's livestream recap of the event, I was lucky enough to win one of the two Cryptoshots starter pack prizes valued at five dollars. So I'd like to feature here also one of my tournament matches featured in the livestream.
Shared Battle
The battle was a 37-mana silver level match with Holy Protection, Healed Out, Tis But Scratches rule sets. You can check the full battle here.
Since healing is disabled for this match, I decided to pump up my Pelacor Conjurer's evasion instead. I placed a Venari Marksrat infront hoping that it will die first and be resurrected by Adelade Brightwing. This will put 2 additional speed points to Conjurer plus 1 speed from Ilthaine and the slow debuff of Time Mage.
What I didn't expect though is the possibility that the enemy will just dish out a full on magic attack which was the case here. Using Obsidian as summoner, the enemy's magic capabilities are intimidating. It would have been nice if Pelacor Conjurer already had the Phase ability.
As planned, Pelacor Conjurer received two Martyr buffs from Venari Marksrat. And although his enhanced speed proves to be useless against magic, he at least has magic reflect which will hopefully remove the enemy monsters' Divine Shields before dying.
By the time Admiral Bosun fills in the first spot, the enemy had already lost his Mycelic Slipspawn and Failed Summoner. This now evens out the playing field with a four versus four matchup.
Admiral Bosun took heavy beating and manages to protect the team long enough to gain an advantage. It was fortunate for me that the enemy's last monster was Goblin Tower which was a range type. This helped Bosun stay in the game by having the armor absorb some of the damage instead of pure magic.
And with that, Queen Mycelia was the last enemy to take down before Goblin Tower takes the front line and becomes disabled. The game ended in round 6. Come join us in the TeamPH community if you would like to participate in the next tournament. Check the link below.
