Low mana cards are very useful in splinterlands since most know that battles are usually with little mana available, so these cards will be important in these battles so that you can use as many cards as possible in it.
In this post I'm going to talk about a card from the fire deck that only costs 4 mana and is one of the best cards you can have defending in the first position of this deck. This card is Cerberus and I believe that many must already know it, especially if you play in the Wild format.
Cerberus is a rare card from the Alpha/Beta edition that belongs to the fire deck, this card has a melee attack and an excellent balance of its basic statistics (attack, speed and life) in addition to great abilities that will help a lot in battle.
In the image above you can have an overview of the card and its levels. To find this information you just need to find the card in the Marketplace or in collection and filter by: Edition - Alpha or Beta / Rarity - Rare / Element - Fire / Role - Monsters. After that you will see the Cerberus card and you will just need to click on it and then go to STATS to find the information in the image above.
Its mana cost is 4 which makes it an excellent card for low mana battles and its basic stats (attack, speed and life) are excellent, especially at maximum level where it has 4 attack, 5 speed and 9 health , and those values for a card with that mana is extremely powerful. But in addition to his excellent stats, he also has 2 great abilities that will help him a lot in battle.
Heal and Retaliate are the abilities that Cerberus has and I'll explain each one of them so you can understand how they will help this card a lot in battles.
The Heal ability will make Cerberus restore 1/3 of its maximum health every round, this means that it will not be an easy card to defeat as it will be able to restore part of its health. Remembering that this ability is only activated the time Cerberus is going to attack, so if he is Stunned he will not be able to recover life and the minimum amount of life restored is 2.
The Retaliate ability will make Cerberus have a 50% chance to attack his attacker when he is attacked by a melee card, so if your opponent has a lot of melee cards it will be a great chance for Cerberus to do more damage in battle since every time When these cards attack him, he has a chance to strike back.
In terms of basic stats (attack, speed and health) and abilities Cerberus is a great choice for your low mana battles as it will be able to attack and defend very well, but being an old edition card, it doesn't it is very easy or cheap to get it at its highest levels and now I will talk more about its values.
To have Cerberus in your battle there are 3 options to get him. The first is buying it on the marketplace, the second is renting it and the third is trying your luck opening Alpha or Beta packs.
In the first option, which is to buy it on the marketplace, you will have to choose between the Alpha and Beta editions. Remembering that both editions give you bonuses on your earnings in ranked battles, the Alpha edition will give you a 10% bonus and the Beta edition will give you a 5% bonus.
In the image I showed above it is the Alpha edition Cerberus and its value is almost double the Beta edition because it is an old edition and gives a bigger bonus, but in my opinion it pays more to have the Beta edition Cerberus because it costs much less and if your intention is to increase the card's level then it will compensate even more because despite having a smaller bonus it will cost you much less.
In the second option, which is renting the card, it will depend on the level you want it and also on the season because at the end of the season the rent is usually more expensive, its price is very variable so I can't say exactly how much it would cost to rent he. At level 1 it won't cost you much but at max level it will cost 40~150 DEC.
In the third option which is opening packs, it will depend on your luck and in my opinion it is not the best option to get a rare card because a pack of the Alpha edition costs 170$ and the Beta edition costs 36$.
