One of the most important aspects to winning a battle in Splinterlands is playing the best team for a given ruleset. In this case we have a ruleset of Even Stevens, which means that only even mana cards can be played. There is only 27 mana in this battle, but due to even stevens ruleset we have an effective mana of 26. This means if you want to use a great tank and fill in all 6 slots you have to be quite economic with your mana.

Here the key to winning this battle was the speed and high damage with conservative mana usage and I accomplished part of those goals using the

Even Stevens. We have a medium mana ruleset that has even cards only

The Strategy

The strategy here was to use speed and high damage to win the battle. I wanted a great tank in front so after spending 8 mana on Djinn Chwala I had to be very conservative with the rest of my monsters I used Dax Paragon along with two more two mana monsters Naga Assassin and Celestial Harpy as well as two four-mana monsters Time Mage and Venari Crystalsmith. Dax Paragon would have been very useful if they had a self healing tank, but that wasn't the case. Still Dax Paragon with his five health for only 2 mana served great as a meat shield.

The Summoner

Quix The Devious is -1 speed and -1 range summoner that reduces speed and range damage from the opposing team.

1st Slot - Tank

Djinn Chwala is one of my favorite tanks to play in with Dragon teams. It is relatively fast with 3 speed and has thorns ability combined with high health of 10 and solid shield of 6.

2nd Slot - Dax Paragon

Dax Paragon is a 2 mana monster with 2 magic damage and relatively high health of 5. It also has Amplify ability that amplifies thorns damage of Djinn Chwala and backfire damage from Naga Assassin. And it has Affliction ability useful against self-healing monsters or tanks being healed by the backline monsters. This little monster is very useful and quite underrated in my opinion.

3rd Slot - Opportunity Monster

Celestial Harpy is an opportunity monster that is also a low mana monster that has an opportunity to finish off the monster with 2 health

4th Slot - Speed Control Monster

Time Mage is a fast monster with 5 speed and it delivers 3 magic damage, but most importantly it slows the whole opponent's team down in order to give the friendly team an opportunity to strike first and to make the opponent team miss more when they attack the friendly team. It also has a rust ability that reduces armor of the opposing team. At 4 mana cost this great monster can be also used in the little leagues ruleset

5th Slot - Healer Monster

Venari Crystalsmith is a great monster with decent range output of 3 and a tank heal ability. At 4 mana cost Crystalsmith can be also used in the little leagues ruleset.

6th Slot - Backfire Monster

Naga Assassin is a great monster to use in the back of your lineup. With a high speed of 6+1 from the speed up and backfire ability it can potentially inflict backfire damage on opposing team's sneak monsters.

The Battle

In the Round 1 Dax Paragon got a chance to finish off the Dax Paragon before it could fire it's first shot! The opposing team was able to finish off our Time Mage which was unfortunate as armor returned:

In Round 2 Dax Paragon fell as it finished serving as a meat shield:

Round 3 was a great one for our team as we took out their secondary tank and their archer without loosing any of our monsters:

In Round 4 we took down their Runi once, but it self-resurrected:

Round 5 was the decisive round where to took down Runi for the second time and took out their Celestial Harpy:

This was pretty much game over as Vanari Crystal smith cannot fire from the first position:
