Today I am going to revisit what an average player can earn in Splinterlands modern league these days. Below are my season stats for the season that just completed. Keep in mind that I do not have an extraordinary amount of SPS staked (About 215k SPS available for Boost Modifiers).
Here is what my current stats for Glint and SPS Modifiers look like:

As you can see my performance this season was nothing to write home about. I have touched the Diamond 1 League which starts at 3400 rating but was unable to stay there at the end of the season. I don't think that that is a big deal as with a recent change to league advancement chests it actually makes sense not to finish at the very peak of your achievement.

So with 397 total battles played last season I won 197 battles which resulted in earning 2170 SPS or about 11 SPS per win on average. At the time of me writing this SPS is at around $0.008 so around 9 cents per win or $17.36 per season which lasts around two weeks.

As you can see my total SPS earnings were 3,808 SPS tokens. While Ranked rewards were the largest source of my SPS earnings My SPS staking rewards came in at a second place with 936 tokens earned. Brawls also added 477 SPS and the single license that I hold brought in 225 SPS.
So total SPS earnings came in at 3808 SPS or $30.46 per season or about $61 per month.
To see the rate of return for an average player we take the total value of my cards that is $1,417 based on the List Prices and $1,175 based on Market Prices. I think Market Prices are more accurate reflection of the card value and that is what I am going to use:
In addition to the cards I obviously have SPS staked that is used for winning SPS tokens via ranked battles. The value of those tokes is around 215,000 SPS * $0.008 = $1,720
So the total asset base this return is based on is $1,175 + $1,720 = $2,895
To calculate the return I am taking $61 per month and dividing it by $2,895 and multiply it by 12 months and multiply by 100 to get percent which gives us around 25% return on investment.
25% is not huge, but it is very solid and with the potential of SPS appreciation this could be a good time to enter the game. Obviously this is not a financial advice, but just my personal opinion.
