Vonak: The Rise of Rebellion Epic Rewards Pt. 1

Introduction

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

It has only been around 3 seasons since the Rebellion Soulbound Rewards has been released and to my surprise, there are already lots of people who were able to have most of their Rebellion rewards at max level and this process has just become faster as with the most recent maintenance, the ability to unbind Rebellion rewards has been implemented, following the recently passed proposal all thanks to the effort of @thepeoplesguild. To get the gist of it, soulbound cards will be unlockable by burning 20x DEC of its collection power within the first 1-3 months and will go down within the succeeding months until it becomes unlockable at 10x the collection power. Interestingly, people are unlocking this rewards and trading them in the market as well as players that are willing to pay to have them, making the market driven by demand. Anyways, today's post will be the first part of my analysis on the Epic Rebellion rewards which I think was the most interesting cards of the reward set with the all new abilities and the debilitations which gives negative status effect on cards in exchange of powerful stats and the cards that I will be talking about all have debilitations.

The first debilitation card we have was Kha'zi Conjurer which is a 2-mana range unit under the Fire element and was revealed to us by @goldmatters and despite its low mana, it packs quite some damage with a total of 6 range attack along with 5 speed and 5 health on max level. It also has Piercing which allows it any of the excess damage it inflicts to the target's armor directly to its health. However, this card comes with a huge downside with having the Incendiary debilitation where at the beginning of round 2, it has 33% chance to be afflicted with Burning that will inflict 2 damage on this card each turn and can also spread to adjacent units each round. This makes using Kha'zi Conjurer extremely risky the longer the battle is. With that said, there were certain situations that having Incendiary might proved to be beneficial such as using it on What Doesn't Kill You to trigger the Enrage ability faster. We can also use it to quickly kill units with Redemption to have the all opponent units lose 1 health or to quickly kill units with Martyr to quickly increase the stats of our units.

As you can see on the above battle, I was able to trigger Enrage on Fyrewatch Devil that allows it to be able to attack faster. With that in mind, the most suitable summoner to this card will be Skargore given that it gives the Enrage ability on all ally units. Perhaps, it could also work with Yodin Zaku by giving it additional range and the Blast ability.

The next card, Shock Trooper, was a Water element mage unit that was revealed by @reseller or Blockchain Cards on Twitter. Just like the first card, this one was also incredibly powerful with a max of 5 magic damage, 4 speed and 6 health for only 4-mana cost. Not to mention, it also has Swiftness which increase the speed of all ally units by 1 and Magic Reflect that returns the magic damage on the attacker. But this comes with Electrified which would inflict 1 damage to all allied units beginning at level 2. If I had to compare the two debilitations, Incendiary would be like self-poison while Electrified was self- redemption. Just like Incendiary, this ability was not suitable for long battles and since this is also a self- damaging debilitation, the same strategy with Incendiary would also work when using this card.

As this was a magic unit, it would benefit the most when used together with summoners, Valnamor and Alric Stormbringer that can give it additional magic attack.

Revealed By@aftersound

Moving on, we have Halfling Refugee which is revealed by @aftersound that provides us with our daily dose of Splinterlands content. He also streams on his channel every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning so you can come by and say "hello". Among the debilitation cards, I would say that this one was my most used card despite being a 1-mana card as it was very tank-y with a max health of 8 and max damage of 5. It also has Heal that allows it to recover a portion of its health to last longer in battle. That said, starting round 2, it has 10% chance to become Exhausted due to the effect of the Weary debilitation with the succeeding turns increasing it by 10% and caped by 80%. When Halfling Refugee gets exhausted, it will not be able to attack or use Heal during the turn. Despite the debilitations, Halfling Refugee was very versatile card given that it was a Neutral card so it can be used in any element and it shines the most during Little League and low mana battles but it also have use even with mid mana battles as long as you have one free slot and 1 mana left like when playing on Odd Ones Out Ruleset by just by being a damage sponge for the enemy attacks. Also Shades of Grey was also an obvious ruleset for this card since only neutral units can be used in battle.

Final Thoughts

Unless playing this cards under Back to Basics, Having card debilitations comes with some significant risk and that just means that players will have to weigh if the drawbacks from debilitations is worth risking for the extra stats that the cards have and that adds an extra dynamic into the game.

Once again I would like to express my gratitude to everyone in the community that helps in sharing the information about the cards.

Thank you and see you at the next post.
