Greetings to all Splinterlands players! this is my entry for BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! this is a popular event held by Splinterlands every week. The theme today is ruleset Armored Up, all monsters have extra +2 armor.
This is a battle in the Modern Format Diamond League, I played with my scholar account from Balthazar.
The guide presents a strategy on how to advance through the ranks by utilizing reasonably priced or cheap-to-rent monsters that can still prove effective.

Ruleset
From left to right :
Armored Up, all monster get extra armor +2.
Up to Eleven, all monster has the amplify ability.
- Amplify ability, increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1
Blast, does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster.
Have a mana cap 38.
We can choose the element of Fire, Death, and Dragon
My Lineup and strategy
We will first talk a bit about the ruleset :
- Armored Up ruleset we can use monsters/summoners who have this ability/attack :
- Shatter, the target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from Monsters with Shatter
- Rust, reduces the armor of all enemy monsters
- Use monsters with Magic-type attacks.
- Poison, will decrease the enemy's HP by 2 every round if hit by this status.
- Piercing, the attack of the monster after decreasing the armor and if it has damage left will hit the HP.
- Blast Ruleset, we need speed and damage. Bring monsters with Reflection Shield (if hit by blast effect give 0 damage).
- Up to Eleven, We can bring monsters with Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return fire abilities. the damage of the counter attack will increase.
From this guideline, we prioritize how to deal with the Armored Up and Blast Rulesets, because all monsters have them, while Up to Eleven is only a monsters with certain abilities as we mentioned above that can use this ruleset.
So we decided to choose the Jacek summoner from Fire Element with the abilities Piercing, Scattershot and all of our monsters got an additional 2 speed.
This is our lineup from left (first position) to right (last position) :
Summoner/monster and Abilities | Description |
---|---|
Forgotten One,1st position, attacker and tanker, has the ability Immunity, Retaliate, and Piercing. | I put this in the first position and hope that the enemy uses a Melee tanker so the Forgotten One can activate the Retaliate Ability, with Retaliate ability has a 50% chance to attack back enemy melee monster who attacks the Forgotten One. Immunity ability make this monster immune to all negative status like stun, and poison. Other than Retaliate ability this monster has the piercing ability, with this ability after the monster's attack decrease to 0 the enemy armor will hit the HP if there is any damage left. |
Venator Kinjo, 2nd position, tanker, has the ability Reflection Shield, and Camouflage. | I use this monster just to counter the effect of Blast. With the Reflection Shield ability the blast will give no damage to this monster. |
Djinn Inferni, 3rd position, attacker, has the ability Giant Killer, and Stun. | This is high damage magic monster with high speed. This monster has the ability Giant killer if attack enemy monster who has a mana cost of 10 or more will give double damage. For example monster with a 10 mana cost or more is like grum Flameblade, Chaos Dragon, carnage Titan, etc. Stun ability if hit the enemy monster will make the enemy monster can't attack for 1 round. Put this in third position because if the monster in position 1 and 2 are dead and this monster moves to position 1 he still can attack, the other 3 monster in position 4-6 is range type so can't attack the monster if already move to the first position. |
Supply Runner, 4th position, Attacker and Support, has the ability Swiftness, and Strengthen. | Put this in this position because this monster is very important in this battle hope that in this position can be safe as long as possible from the attack. The most important ability for this battle is swiftness (increase all friendly monster speed by 1). Strengthen ability is useful to increase HP by 1 because this Blast ruleset is also an endurance battle. This monster has high speed and good damage. |
Lava Spider, 5th position, attacker, has the ability Snipe, Snare, and poison. | If the enemy brings the monster with the sneak ability and hit the monster in the sixth position this monster will be the tanker for the effect of the blast. For 3 mana cost this monster has high HP. Snipe ability is overridden by scattershot ability in this battle. If hit by this monster Snare will disable the Flying ability of the monster, and the Poison ability will decrease the enemy's HP by 2 every round. |
Gem Meteor, 6th position, Attacker and tanker, has the ability Scattershot and piercing | Because of high speed put in the last position as tanker if the enemy brings a monster with the sneak ability (attack monster in the last position) hope can dodge several attacks before dying. The ability of this monster same as the summoner's scattershot and Piercing. Has great damage. |
The Battle
The battle begins with buffs and debuffs from both sides.
Round 1 :
Enemy Side :
- Silent Sha-Vi is inflicted by Stun because attacked by Djinn Inferni.
- Venari Spellsmith die because of the effect of the Blast attack from Djinn Inferni and activated Redemption ability to make damage to all our monsters by 1, because of Armored Up Ruleset the monster whose HP decrease only Meteor Gem.
- Venari Spellsmith was resurrected by Ancient Lich.
- Lava Spider Poison Inflicted Ancient Lich.
Our Side :
- Djinn Inferni was killed by Magi Necrosi.
- Forgotten One Retaliate activated when attacked by Curse Windeku and give great damage to Windeku and Xenith Monk.
Round 2 :
Enemy Side :
- Silent Sha-Vi was Killed by our Meteor Gem at start of round 2.
- Venari Spellsmith die again attacked by Lava Spider, and activated Redemption again.
- Windeku and Xenith Monk both dead attacked by forgotten One and blast effect.
Our Side :
- Forgotten One die attacked by Ancient Lich.
Round 3 :
- Enemy Side :
- Ancient Lich HP decreased by 2 because of the poison effect, and die killed by the blast effect because Meteor Gem attacked Magi Necrosi.
- Magi Necrosi die attacked by our Supply Runer.
With the dead of Magi Necrosi Victory is ours.
Did your strategy work?
Yes, our strategy is going well, even though the enemy uses Summoner Lux Vega, almost all of our monsters attack the enemy monsters first and manage to penetrate the enemy's armor and kill or give a stun effect to the enemy monsters so that these monsters cannot attack us.
The Forgotten One attack, and also the activation of the Retaliate ability combined with the Piercing ability manage to destroy enemy armor easily and reduce the enemy's HP a lot, adding HP 1 by the Swiftness ability from Supply Runner really helps our monsters to survive longer. We can see in round 2 when the Forgotten One attacks Windeku and is affected by Throns so that he only has 1 HP left. Without the Swiftness ability, it is certain that the Forgotten One will die and the Ancient Lich will attack Venator Kinjo and kill him along with the Supply Runner, making the Lava Spider advance to 1st position and unable to attack, and we will most likely lose.
