Once again, another week of the weekly Battle Mage Challenge.
The ruleset for this week is fab four. In this ruleset Up to four Units can be used, For this, you first choose what you think will help you in the battle and you also need to adapt to the accompanying ruleset if there is a secondary ruleset. The battle I'm sharing with this ruleset is from the Silver League SPS DAO free tournament. My opponent here is Cravinof from the S Family Guild. Aside from the Fab Four ruleset, another accompanying ruleset is "healed out" and has a mana cap of only 18. In situations like this with a low mana cap, others often resort to a backdoor attack strategy where they use monsters with the sneak ability. However, in my battle, I didn't use the backdoor strategy because I noticed from my opponent's battle history that they often use a Lux summoner with armor. This would make it difficult for me to execute a backdoor strategy because of Lux's armor.
Now let's see what I used in the battle and how I won with the Fab Four ruleset.
18 mana cap, the available elements can you use are earth, life, and, dragon. The ruleset is fab four and healed out.
TEAM COMPOSITION
For the summoner, I used Helios Matriarch so I could use the Gladius card because of its conscript ability. Aside from conscript, she also provides +1 speed to all units. For the 1st position, I used Pelacor Conjurer, a no-attack monster with flying and magic reflect abilities. Sometimes, when I face opponents with low mana, they use magic attackers, especially when the earth element is available, so I decided to use Pelacor Conjurer for defense against magic attackers through its magic reflect ability. For the 2nd position, I used Captain Katie, a magic attacker with bloodlust and snipe abilities. Since I expected the opponent to use magic attackers, Captain Katie's snipe ability would help target magic attackers not in the 1st position. The bloodlust ability would also provide an additional +1 stat for each monster she kills. For the 3rd position, I used Vruz, a melee attacker with martyr and sneak abilities. The martyr's ability would provide additional stats when he dies in battle. For the last position, I used Chaos Agent, a no-attack monster with a dodge ability. I placed him in the last position for defense against physical sneak attackers.
KEYNOTES
I positioned Vruz between Chaos Agent and Captain Katie so they could gain stats when Vruz's martyr ability activates. Chaos Agent will gain additional speed, increasing the chance of dodging attacks due to dodge plus speed. Captain Katie, on the other hand, will gain increased magic damage and speed.
BATTLE SUMMARY
In round 2, my plan succeeded in granting additional stats to Chaos Agent and Captain Katie because Vruz died.
In round 3, because Captain Katie killed Dax Paragon, her bloodlust ability activated, granting her additional stats. In the same round, the opponent also killed my Pelacor Conjurer.
In round 5, because Captain Katie killed the opponent's Pelacor Conjurer, her bloodlust ability activated again. So, in this round, she gained 7 magic damage, 7 speed, and 5 life.
In round 6, because the opponent's Celestial Harpy only had 4 health left and Captain Katie had 7 magic damage, it was enough for her to kill it in just one hit. So, the battle ended in this round.
CONCLUSION
- Utilizing Vruz's martyr ability to enhance the stats of key monsters like Captain Katie.
- Captain Katie's bloodlust ability played a crucial role in boosting her stats throughout the match.
- Because my opponent expected me to use a backdoor strategy, but instead I used a magic attacker with snipe ability, his defense against physical or sneak attacks did not succeed.
