When I had joined Splinterlands, I found it the game of strategy and NFTs, but it was more than that with a flair for the gamified version of a DAO.
Splinterlands ecosystem is built to reward its userbase with different kinds of perks, be it playing the game and earning daily and seasonal rewards or be it staking SPS, renting, and selling game cards. The show is open for everyone to enjoy the way they like.
To access the game's earning system, I had to unlock it first with the purchase of a 'Spell Book', that not only opened the rewarding doors but also provided me with access to Hive Engine. From there, the opportunities starts to knock, and when I wrote my first post on Splintertalks.io which received an overwhelming response from the gaming communities on Hive.
The response from the gaming community inspired me to write more gaming posts and this way a rewarding journey started, I wrote more gaming posts and the community rewarded me with amazing crypto rewards in the form of Hive and HBD.
HBD (Hive-Backed Dollar)
HBD is a Hive blockchain's stable-coin token which is stabilized to US dollar as $1 worth of Hive tokens, this way it is pegged to USD and works as a stable-coin in the Hive ecosystem.
HBD can also be stacked into Hive savings account to earn a nice yearly profit, current APY 20%, that can be varied depending upon the block producers' votes.
Using HBD Rewards
By default any post you publish, the payout is set to 50% HP (Hive Power) and 50% HBD, when the author receives its payout after 7 days, it will split into HP and HBD equally, this way the user can receive both HP for voting and resource credits (RC) and HBD for conversion to Hive or store in savings.
HBD to Hive Conversion
It is very easy to convert rewarded HBD into Hive and further use that for in-game purchases or any other use. I use Ecency.com's wallet for HBD conversion, but you can do so on https://wallet.hive.blog/, they both have the same market panel.
As shown in the above image, simply select "Trade token" option to open up the trading window.
Simply use this 'Token Exchange' market to buy liquid Hive tokens, which can be used for in-game purchases in Splinterlands using the Hive Keychain browser app.
(Please note: Do not convert to SWAP.HIVE, Splinterlands requires liquid Hive for purchases through Keychain. Splinterlands Credits can also be purchased using HBD, but to purchase SPS and DEC it is required to have liquid Hive in your Hive wallet.)
Now you have Hive or HBD in your wallet, you can convert them into Credits and DEC to buy Chaos Packs and rent cards using the in-game shop and market. You can also buy SPS for staking using liquid Hive.
Profitable Portfolio
Writing quality and informative posts can get you nice Hive/HBD rewards, those can be used for the growth of the Splinterlands account.
One more tip to grow your Splinterlands account is to participate in weekly #Splinterlands contests, which might get you a good upvote on your post, only 2 posts can be eligible for upvotes if qualified, you may follow @splinterlands account on Hive for regular updates regarding the game, contests, and other relevant information.
Growing your Splinterlands portfolio also provides an opportunity to get daily SPS airdrops, the days are numbered so hurry up and grow your gaming portfolio for a profitable journey in the game.
