Overview
The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁
This week the ruleset is the Holy Protection, which means that all units gain the Divine Shield ability which reduces the damage of the first attack received to 0.
Divine Shield will be re-applied when a unit is Resurrected. Blast damage will remove the Divine Shield.
The upcoming Battle ruleset

The mana cap for my next battle was 25, which is not that much, so it is important to bring a solid tank and some budget mana monsters, whom are able to deal some damage.
The Keep Your Distance ruleset will effectively eliminate all the melee attack monsters from the game, so setting up the team would be a bit more difficult than usual. 😟
The Even Stevens ruleset is not going to help either, because it will allow the use only the Even mana cost monsters, so the available monster pool will be only half than normally are.
To take advantage of the Holy Protection ruleset more than my opponent is easy if I will try to bring more low budget monsters, because all of them will receive the Divine Shield to block a full attack instead of using only one or two big guns in the battle. 😁
My lineup
 | Quix the Devious was an obvious choice for me, because he is the only one out of the three Splinter who is able to decrease the ranged attack stats of the enemy monsters. I thought it will be a much higher chance for my opponent to choose ranged attack monsters, because the melee attack ones were banned. Quix will reduce the speed and ranged attack of all of the enemy monsters by one. 😊 |
| Without any melee attack tanks I used one of my favorite monster from long time and that is the Djinn Oshannus who has a lot of health and the Void ability, which will halves all the incoming magic attacks targeting him. He also has the Phase ability, which will allow him to use his speed to dodge the incoming magic attacks as well. 😇 |  |
 | The Merdhapir cost only four mana and he has three ranged attack damage wihtout any debuff. He also has quite good speed and the Life Leech ability to increase his own health when he deals damage against his targets. The Cripple ability will reduce one maximum health from his target with each of his attacks. 😜 |
| The Igor Darkspear cost only two mana, so it will be easy to include him into my team, but he has one very special ability, which is the Stun, which will give him the chance (50%) to Stun his target, which will makes them to skip their own attacks. 🤗 |  |
 | The Kulu Swimhunter is a plain damage dealer who normally has three attack damage for four mana cost, which is a very good ratio. His high speed will ensure that he will attack before his enemies. 😉 |
| The Naga Assassin cost only two mana and she has very good abilities to support her team. She has the Backfire ability, which means that all of the monsters who misses her will take two attack damage back to themselves. Her Swiftness ability will increase the speed of all of the enemy monsters by one. 😎 |  |
The Battle
My opponent brought Quix the Devious as well, so he will reduce the speed and ranged attack on all of my monsters and he will be able to use the Dragon monsters if he wanted to do so. 😱
My opponent had a strange and expensive strategy using one of the new airdrop Conflict monster, which was Rage. He is a monstrocity, because he cost 16 mana (the most expensive tn the whole game) and he is well protected against the magic attacks like my Djinn Oshannus, but on top of that he has the Weapon Training ability, which will increase the magic attack to all the non-attacker monsters next to him. 😅
In the first round my low budget monsters killed their Daigendark Surveyor, because she had only 7 health and her Magic Reflect ability was useless against my ranged attack mosnters. 😉
At the end of the first round my Igor made a very lucky shoot and hit their Rage in the bullseye and Stunned him completely for one round. 🤞
In the second round my Merdhampir shoot a net against the wings of Rage and he managed to gounded him, so basically he lost his Flying ability for the rest of the battle.
In the third round his Rage started to attack again, but hopefully it was too late for him, because he had only two health left by the end of the round. 😌
As soon as his Rage died his Naga Assassin fell into the first position and it was easy to kill her there. 😇
Battle Result
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
My strategy was to use a lot of smaller mana cost mosnter in order to take advantage of the Holy Protection ability and to have a lot of damage. Luckily my opponent used 'only' (which is still very expensive) Level two Rage, so he didn't get the Life Leech ability, which he will get on his Level 3.
If he would get that he might win this battle easily. 🙃
