Splinterlands: Go Gold Or Go Home

png_20221231_072246_0000.png

It's the splinterlands' end of the season again and this time, I decided not to move to the gold league at the end of the season. One of the reasons why I did this was because I ended up in gold 3 last two seasons. After all, I wanted to stop playing in the bronze league forever, but something actually happened. My ECR is messed up, hardly recharges quickly, and drains too fast even from 70%.

So it became really difficult for me to get those gold chests. Last season I earned about 9 gold chests alone after brawling for more than 14 days. This didn't sit well with me, I tried as much as possible to brawl minimally because it'll help my ECR to recharge quite well, but still, since the game changes that happened sometime in June, I haven't been able to at least get up to 30 silver chests.

However I won't say the chests were bad

I was just overly disappointed with the cards in there

The potions were decent since I still have like five packs to open, the potions I got were enough to open two packs for me. Well, I also got a pack in the reward too, but I probably guess that was why the other cards were below par.

On the other hand, I think this is probably one of my best season rewards in like 3 months now. I ran an experiment to see if brawling for silver chests was going to be better than getting gold, I think that getting gold chests will always be better. While this betterment might be a gamble, the only way to increase these odds are to earn even more gold chests.

A Pack Brings A Decent Odd

The thing is, I always feel that any end of the Season reward that's got a pack inside of it is already a great end of the season's reward. But there's always a matter of opening the pack. Opening the pack is another gamble. This is because you can either choose to hold the pack or open it.

Now while the pack is worth over 1.3$, you might open it and get cards worth 40$ that's a colossal loss in my opinion, on the other hand, you might open it and get a collection worth $5, now that's more like it, but what are the odds? The chanciness of being lucky is so crazy, one moment you might be reeling from the loss, and the other moment, you're just so surprised how you've pulled something spectacular.

But it's only logical, gold chests will always be better

.......at least the chances that it will always be is quite high, even if it's not a 100% level. Although I think I might have to earn about two to three gold end of the Season's reward in other to create an articulate deduction, but this one isn't bad, it would have been without the pack.

I was talking about opening packs earlier and the truth is that I opened the pack I got from this pack and to be honest, the loss was quite obvious. No matter, I didn't mind, I've opened about four packs in the past from season's rewards, and only once has the content been better than the whole pack.

One bird at hand, might not be better than two in the wild

So getting a pack and opening it are two different ball games as your chances are 50/50. However, this feels different from opening the regular packs that are bought with actual funds. buying packs in bulk means you might not calculate your profit or loss per unit pack but in bulk. So when you're opening a bulk pack one tends to calculate their profit or loss collectively rather than per unit, this feels better.

So for a person who is opening only one pack gotten from the season's reward, their loss or profit would be more vivid, making them question whether they should have kept the pack or opened it. But the truth is no matter how much we choose to hodl the pack, opening it would appeal to one in the long run.

However, a season's reward with a pack on the base core is a good thing

Even if the prospective content of the pack might turn out to be terrible. Howbeit, I'll go back to earning Silver chests. My input here is that gold chest aren't bad, they're decent, nothing excellent. So even if you have a better quality of reward, you'll still need more quantity of quality gold chest in other to increase your chances of having even better rewards.

In the long run, more gold chest is better, and more silver chest isn't bad either, it's just that with silver chests you have 80% of earning more quantity mediocre rewards, with gold, the mediocrity reduces and your chances of something spectacular reduces.

I might be wrong

It's difficult to calculate Chanciness on the fabrics of luck

Cumulatively, gold is better in the long run, even if you earn fewer of it, although your luck might differ from season to season. So, this is the reason why I'll head back into getting gold chests again by moving to gold 3, when the season ends. The competition has remained tough. People are getting better at their tactics and sincerely it's better this way.

The market condition has been terrible, SPS is taking the beating and I think something should be done to salvage that, at least to a sizeable extent. I opened two packs and I was not the happiest, they were not good, and since my pack remains only 4, I've decided to hold them for a while before going back to opening them again, meanwhile, I'll be accumulating more potions in the process. Hopefully, this season turns out better.
