The Watch #3: Keeping an Eye on all the Big Splinterlands Accounts for You!

It's been a while but I'm back with an update. I've still been active in Splinterlands at Silver/Gold. Mostly just getting the daily quest done and then renting out. Ironically the huge depression in asset values has made the game much more enjoyable to play. If I was brighter on the future of the game I would invest a lot to make some Gold tournament lineups.

There's been a few weak developments but mostly the same story. The partnership with Waka Flocka Flame was amusing (D-list rapper? Why?) and a decent spot to unload my vouchers. I almost considered buying one of the Summoner cards but I'm not too bright on the future. SPL assets are chopping though we just lost the $3 for 1K DEC value today. I don't want to see what happens to the game once the airdrops end so I might cash out my position soon. I am holding ~$6K in Splinterlands assets currently.

I no longer follow the Splinterlands news that closely but one thing that caught my eye was they raised the 1M cap on SPS staking. After that the APR dropped quite a bit to sub 30%. I thought it signified a potential exit plan for the big people in the company. So as a service to the community I've decided to resume this column.

Unfortunately every day that passes makes it less and less likely we'll have a return to the booming days of the past. I'm hoping things can turn around. In the meantime I've been playing a lot of Skyweaver.

WHALE WATCH Update

All of the top accounts I follow (company top brass, elite tournament players, guild masters) have held on to their massive card collections.

Hero jacekw is still very active buying/selling/renting cards.
The two founders are very inactive.
The employees and guildmasters are also just going through the routine of renting cards and releasing them.

So nothing much has changed. Mostly par for the course. I'm not sure what the endgame for the whales are. I read that @spswhale (#2 holder) is also one of the founder accounts. Right now they seem to be generating a ton of vouchers that have depressed to sub $1. They never found a proper use for SPS either so it's just a bunch of weak assets flooding the system currently. The top stakers are people they raised capital from or insider/loyal Mavericks.
