I've decided to showcase one of the newly released Rebellion Soulbound Reward Cards. Of course, the best card for his occasion is... you've guessed it correctly - Olivia of the Brook and if you did not guess correctly, you will understand soon enough why she is such an obvious choice.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of Olivia of the Brook, let's have a sneak peek into her LORE.

So, Olivia is a young druid who managed to escape the minions of the Chaos Empire thanks to her father, and is now fighting against the Empire together with her snow leopard Cloudy, serving as a symbol of freedom and courage for the people of Lyveria. Cool story!

image.png

Alright, we've got some idea of who Olivia of the Brook is, after glancing at her lore. Let us have a look at her stats and abilities at different key levels now.

image.png

  • Olivia of the Brook is an Epic Monster. At level 1 she has 1 Melee Attack, 1 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 0 Armor and 4 Health and she starts off with Opportunity (Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health). So nothing special at level 1 apart from the fact that she has a dual attack. Let's see how she evolves.
  • At level 2 she gains a 2nd ability - her signature one and the one only she currently has - Mimic (At the beginning of round 2 and each following round, gain a random ability from the enemy team. 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Dispel removes one mimicked ability in the order they were gained. Debilitations, Targeting abilities, Ambush, Weapons Training, Flank, Reach, Charge, and Taunt cannot be mimicked). As you can see, by the fact that the explanation of the ability takes up 3 lines, it's quite crazy. If the opponent let's Olivia live for a longer period of time she can obtain all the abilities the enemy Monsters have which makes her incredibly formidable.
  • At level 3 she gains 1 Armor.
  • At level 4 she gains an additional point in Health for a total of 5.
  • At level 5 she gains an additional Attack point for a total of 2, which is most welcome for sure.
  • Finally, maxed out at level 6 she has 2 Melee Attack, 1 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 1 Armor and 6 Health. But wait there's more, she also gains her 3rd and final ability - Reflection Shield (this Monster doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return fire).

Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BATTLE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>

  • The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

The rulesets for this battle are Up Close and Personal (Only units with melee attacks can be used) and Earthquake (All non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn). The mana budget is 55 which is above average so I will be able to splurge on chunkier Monsters. The available Elements are Life, Death and Dragon. I'll go with the Life element so I can showcase Olivia.

The Silverblade Fighter is a Rare Monster. At level 1 he has 1 Melee Attack, 3 Speed, 6 Armor and 5 Health and he starts off with Flank (At the beginning of battle, if this Unit is in the first position, the unit in the second position gains Reach) ability which is his signature one. It is, of course, really, really useful if you want to put a Melee Monster without Reach in the off-tank spot. At level 2 he gains a 2nd ability - Void Armor (Magic attacks hit this Monster's armor before its Health) and 1 Health Point for a total of 6. At level 6 he gains his third at final ability - Protect (All friendly Monsters gain +2 Armor). Finally, maxed out at level 8 he has 3 Melee Attack, 4 Speed, 7 Armor and 6 Health.

The off-tank for the line-up is Mantoroth. He's a pretty beefy boy with 4 Armor and 11 Health at the cost of 11 Mana which makes him susceptible to Giant Killer (does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana). He also has 3 Melee Attack and 2 Speed. In terms of abilities - at max level he has the following ones (in order of appearance): - Shield (reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks), ARMORED STRIKE (Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!), True Strike (this Monster's attacks cannot miss), Repair (restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage) , Blast (does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster). He is definitely shaping up to be a pretty interesting card, especially with the New Ability - Armored Strike and the fact that he is a Neutral Card, so he can be included in any Element.

Following immediately after is my very own Runi. Runi has True Strike as an ability so it is incapable of missing in general but I actually have picked it for its general utility with Opportunity (Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health) and Rebirth (When this Monster dies it will self-resurrect with 1 Health once per battle). I have brought it in to help kill off enemy targets left at low health by the rest of my team as it will be the last to act with its base Speed of 1.

The 4th spot goes to the Drybone Raider. It is a cool Dual Attack Monsters with Double Strike which means that it hits not once, not twice, not three times but four times every round!. Maxed out at level 4 it has Double Strike (Monster attacks twice each round), Shatter (Target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from Monsters with Shatter) and finally Cripple (Each time an enemy is hit by a Monster with Cripple it loses one max health).

image.png

image.png

The 5th spot goes to the protagonist of this post. I feel Olivia is well protected hanging out in this spot. We'll see how that goes.

image.png

image.png

I've decided to use the Disintegrator in the last spot as Sneak protection and also for its abilities. It is at max level so it has a total of 4 pretty cool abilities: Demoralize (Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters), Trample (When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team), Knock Out (Does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned), Retaliate (When hit with a Melee attack, Monsters with Retaliate have a chance of attacking their attacker). Hopefully it gets a few retaliates off if any enemy Monsters make the mistake of attacking it.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

  • The Summoner I am going with for the battle is the most recent airdrop we got - Eternal Tofu. It's the new cat in the Modern part of the town after Byzantine Kitty's move to the Wild outskirts. It deserves a whole introductory page of its own but in short it gives a bunch of cool options to the player using it. It gives +2 Health, Snare and Thorns to ALL friendly Monsters as we as the option to choose from two tactical choices - To give Divine Shield to 3 different Monsters or Triage and Scavenge to 1 Monster. My opponent, on the other hand, has decided to go with Dragon and the Summoner enabling Tactics on their side of the battlefield - Akane. Let's see how this battle goes.

image.png

  • There was an Ambush round as that's one of Akane's 2 choices. The player gave Ambush to two of their Monsters so they did their attack moves before the actual round 1 began. As you can see their Venka has already died to Thorns damage since Thorns is extremely deadly to most Melee Monsters. On the other hand I've lost my Silverblade Fighter.

image.png

  • Round 3 begins and all that's left for my team is to mop up the remainder of the opposing team.

Olivia of the Brook is a very powerful Monster which can be obtained by getting her from reward chests or Epic Reward Card Draws and as of just recently - you can also buy her from the Marketplace for a floor price of 20X her CP value. She is currently being sold for $10 per bcx.
