BATTLE LINK -- June 27, 2024 -- Day 179 of 366 vs. @the10legmulti
Good to be back after the extended time away for the end of my school year and a camping festival! Time to get back in the swing of Splinterlands and Hive content.
Today's #BOTD comes from the top of Modern Diamond 1 ranked play. By now I've got about 10 battles under my belt to warm up. This narrow, 13-mana battle had 3 rulesets: Shades of Gray, Super Sneak, and Blood and Sunder. Honestly, I had to look up the last one and B&S gives all units corrosive ward (bad for armored monsters)!
The carpool for this battle will be very small. The low mana total plus the ability to ONLY play neutral cards means the choice of summoner is key. I decided to go all in with early aggression!
This is a classic low-mana battle showcasing the power of the ambush ability. Here, our featured card of the battle, the legendary dragon summoner -- Akane -- provides the ambush ability to the lean, mean, trampling machine, Venka. She would get in two attacks before any of my opponent's monsters would get in their first.
Well, that didn't work out well for any of his FOUR monsters. Hit that battle link above the pic, it's as much fun as you think!
Of course, I'm thankful for the failed dodge ability of the agent. Dumacke Orc could have been very painful here, but could they have chosen Waka specifically to beat the Orc? I was a bit confused by the choice of summoner and the monsters. I'll gladly take this smoking quick win before they got to attack.
