What is SPT?
The Splintertalk token SPT was created by Splinterlands as a Hive-Engine tribe on the second layer of HIVE during the first year of the game. It was originally gifted to all Mavericks (players that bought over 500 booster packs) who actively requested it on Discord in sizes of 100,000 SPT each. It can be staked and used for upvoting Splinterlands content in the same way HIVE does on the main layer. The rewards are splitted 50/50 between the author and the curators and paid out entirely in liquid SPT tokens.
There has been no other use-case for SPT up until now, with the ongoing Splintershards (SPS) airdrop. This has made SPT very valuable recently. In the future we will see fanart NFT creation for Splinterlands and potentially even an in-game skin NFT market, that is using SPT as its main currency.

What is SPS?
Splintershards (SPS) is a new cryptocurrency governance token which will be integrated into the Splinterlands game in order to provide increasing levels of decision-making ability and control over the product to the player-base, asset owners, and other stakeholders.

What is SPS airdrop?
Nearly every Splinterlands asset is eligible to earn SPS tokens in the airdrop. Each type of asset is assigned a specific amount of "airdrop points" that it is worth. Then the total number of airdrop points is added up across all assets in all accounts in the game and held externally once each day and ~1,100,000 SPS tokens (400M / 365 days) are divided by the total number of airdrop points to determine how many SPS tokens each airdrop point is worth that day.

What is 2nd Layer?
Hive is a great example of this latter type of two-layer network: the 1st layer node of Hive can process most types of Hive transactions, but Hive also allows for arbitrary data to be added to a block using a “custom_json” transaction. Anyone can write their own 2nd layer Hive application that gives meaning to these custom_json transactions, and they can do it without requiring any changes to the “core” Hive software. Two well-known examples of such 2nd layer applications are Hivemind and Splinterlands.

What is the relationship between 2nd Layer and SPT?

Look at this picture and we will uncover you one of the biggest secret that many people of unaware of. Anyone using ecency saw the upvote of @travelgirl.spt as $0 but on layer 2 of splintertalk it shows $1.7(in spt). Payments of post are done by all layers. This also applies to leofinance layer as the same is $0.10 on its layer.

What to do to Compound SPT?
This is something that we have to tell again and again through our My Day in Splinterlands Community! Report. Yes you can compound your SPT, So don't do a rookie mistake and sell them on market for even SPS or DEC as SPT is also a powerful currency that can be compounded and increase your SPS airdrop.
To compound SPT(There are a lot of ways, the way I follow is):
- Go to Splintertalk.
- Go to you Wallet.
- Click on SPT down arrow.
- Click on Stake.
- Select the Amount you what to stake and Click Stake.
- Click on SPT power down arrow(reference to button shape not powering down).
- Click on Delegate.
- Select the amount to want to delegate and delegate to @monster-curator. Click on Delegate.
What to do to make Compounded SPT eligible for airdrop?
By Delegating to @monster-curator the SPT points are added to your SPS airdrop and not @monster-curator. This is confirmed by @Splinterlands @monster-curator.
