HELLO to all Splinterlands readers of my humble blog.๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป Welcome to yet another week of the "new" iteration of the Splinterlands Weekly Challenges ๐. The "old" Battle Challenges are now a thing of the past (at least for now?) and they have been replaced with the "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Support Articles, Newbies Guide to Tournaments".
For any old Hivers/Splinterland players who've just come back and are confused, fret not! Even with the name and format tweaks, right at it's core, battles are still the foundation of these posts.
In this week's edition of my Support Articles, Newbies Guide to Tournaments, I will do something drastically different from my usual battle showcases. Instead of war, I will become a peaceful teacher showing all new players how to most effectively join tournaments. It might sound hard, but it is actually far easier than it seems. With some help, even a brand new player with a grasp of the basics of gameplay will be more than able to hold their own against the most veteran of players! ๐
No matter! I present to you โ Newbies Guide to Tournaments.
So without further ado, let me introduce how best to navigate this seemingly impossible task to you! ๐
Tournaments in Splinterlands can be a thrilling way to test your skills, earn rewards, and level up your competitive gameplay. However, for new players, the tournament scene might seem a bit intimidating. From choosing the right tournament to crafting a winning strategy, thereโs a lot to learn. Fear notโthis guide will break down everything you need to know to dive into your first Splinterlands tournament with confidence. Letโs get you from tournament rookie to a future top contender!
โ๏ธ๐ก๏ธHow to Get Started in Splinterlands Tournaments๐ก๏ธโ๏ธ
With all that being said, here is how I would advice new players on how you should start on your journey to becoming a master tournament champion!
1. Understanding Tournament Types
- Novice vs. Higher-Level Tournaments: As a beginner, look for Novice or Bronze-level tournaments. These tournaments typically have lower-level card restrictions and are designed for newer players. Avoid high-level tournaments that require maxed-out cards unless youโre ready for serious competition.
- Modern vs. Wild Format: Modern format allows only recent card editions, while Wild format permits all cards. For new players, Modern tournaments are generally easier, as the card pool is more limited and manageable.
- Free vs. Paid Tournaments: Many beginner tournaments are free to enter, but others may require an entry fee. Paid tournaments often have better prizes but can be more competitive. Start with free tournaments until you're comfortable with your strategy and deck.
2. Choosing the Right Tournament
- Daily Tournaments: Splinterlands hosts daily tournaments that vary in format and entry requirements. Check the in-game tournament calendar regularly to find a beginner-friendly event that suits your schedule.
- Guild Tournaments: If youโre part of a guild, guild tournaments can be a good place to start. These tend to have more supportive environments and may even offer guild rewards for participation.
- Special Events: Keep an eye out for special event tournaments, which often have unique rules or rewards. These can be a fun way to experiment with different strategies.
3. Preparing Your Deck
- Focus on Versatility: Make sure your deck includes a good balance of tanks, support, and damage dealers. Having versatile monsters that can adapt to different rule sets will give you the edge.
- Know the Meta: Pay attention to which cards and summoners are popular in your league and format. For example, Legendary Summoners may dominate higher-level tournaments, but Rare Summoners might be the key in beginner brackets.
- Leverage Rentals: If your collection is limited, take advantage of the card rental system to borrow key cards for your tournament battles. Renting powerful summoners or monsters at a low cost can dramatically improve your chances of success.
4. Crafting Your Strategy
- Understand the Rule Sets: Every tournament battle comes with specific rule sets like "Healed Out" or "Little League" that limit the type of cards or abilities you can use. Make sure to tailor your team to the rule sets, taking advantage of their strengths.
- Mana Management: Always check the mana cap for each battle. Create a balanced lineup that uses as much of the mana cap as possible without compromising your strategy.
- Counter Your Opponent: After the first round, you may face opponents youโve battled before. Study their team setups and adjust your lineup accordingly to counter their typical strategy.
5. Boosting Your Chances
- Use Practice Battles: Before your tournament match, try practice battles in Ranked mode to test out different team compositions. This can help you fine-tune your lineup and identify any weaknesses.
- Stay Calm Under Pressure: Tournaments are as much a mental game as they are about skill. Stay calm, think strategically, and donโt rush into decisions. Take your time to consider all factors before locking in your team.
Conclusion
Jumping into your first Splinterlands tournament may seem daunting, but with the right approach, itโs an incredibly rewarding experience. Start small, focus on building a strong and versatile deck, and practice in different formats. By following these strategies, youโll not only improve your tournament performance but also gain valuable experience to advance through the ranks. Now, itโs time to enter the arena and show them what youโve gotโmay your mana be ever in your favor!
๐ญ๐ง๐ญEnding Thoughts๐ญ๐ง๐ญ
I definitely can appreciate Tournaments and how it changes the dynamics of usual gameplay. This is one of those situations which can be turned into a huge advantage if surrounded with the proper strategies. The role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. ๐๐ป
