Community engagement (Lore) : Rush Townsend

Introduction

This week Challenge is to write about lore. For me lore is nice to have and i think important for the game and some story telling. I have read all the post about the fractions and listened to all YouTube stories that where post back in the day (e.g. splinters of praetoria canicush). I even have read a nice hand of lore writing of certain cards.

It just does not stick in my head, so the question about which character you like most often comes down to my playing style šŸ¤£.

Still when the question raised with this challenge there is one card that directly popped into my mind.
Not because of the lore it self but because a podcast of @thepeoplesguild had with @breakingbenjamin and his personal story about this unit. I really encourge to re-listen this podcast:
@thepeoplesguild/episode-81-a-breakingbenjamin-conversation
1:23:10 to be precise, I had to look it up and listen it again.

I just like the personal stories. Also the cards that have been created my players are a huge plus in the game imho.

Unit

Rush Townsend

The lore

Rush Townsend, once the visionary and magnanimous chancellor of the Republic of Fireboro, abdicated his position after the Chaos Empire's conquest. Rather than flee into exile, however, Rush chose to remain in the republic's capital city.

His main concern is not reclaiming chancellorship, but rather the welfare of the republic's citizens. He coordinates delivery of essential supplies to the needy, ensures safe havens for refugees, facilitates underground educational initiativesā€”everything within his power to lessen the burden of the empire's yoke.

He has become a symbol of defiance and solidarity in the Republic of Fireboro, and Commander Slade, puppet-chancellor of the Chaos Empire, has placed a hefty bounty on Rush's head. But those who remain loyal offer him sanctuary from Slade's legionnaires and those collaborators who aid and abet the empire.

Current Statistics

My level 2 Rush has a decent win rate only not played very often so very situational unit omho

Example battle

Lets have a look into a battle with Rush Townsend. This time its a tournament match.

Strategy

The high mana cap battle with blast is a real good opportunity to use Rush Twonsend.
The ambush with blast is helpful in doing some extra damage before the first round starts.

Rulesets

Explosive Weaponry:
All unit will gain the blast ability. Meaning all unit that hit will also do damage against adjacent units.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
I love this summoner. My only maxed rebellion summoner. the +1 magic and +1 melee is so strong. Currently one of the best summoners imho next to enternal tofu (which i only have 1 bcx of)

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Mantaroth (lvl 1)
Very strong tank that can withstand some attack. Now with Lorkus it has 4 attack shield and armor strike what a beast. Nimbledook Scout boost it with another +1 melee with her Inspire. Just hoping my opponent does not bring any forcefield. As far as i know none of the rebellion units have forcefield šŸ‘

Grimbardun Smith (lvl 1)
You got to love this unit boosted by Moxian Rebel to have 1 attack and boost up with Lorkus to 2 magic damage.

Moxian Rebel (lvl 2)
Another rebellion unit that is a must have unit. Not only in modern but also played a lot in wild.
This boosting adjacent units that does not have any attack with +1 magic attack.

Nimbledook Scout (lvl 5)
Bossted by Moxian Rebel and boost my own melee units with 1 melee attack is great for only 2 mana.

Venka the Vile (lvl 1)
Rebellion has such great units another must have unit in modern. Still somewhat expensive (36$). 4 attack and will attack the first unit from any position. 5 damage with the Lorkus buff, 6 damage with the Inspire buff from Nimbledook Scout.

Rush Townsend (lvl 2)
Here it is the hero of this week. Even when it doesn't get boosted by Lorkus it still has a great damage output with 5 and now also the blast will help taking down my enemy

Rounds

Start :

Lets analyze the battle lineup. I have given Mantaroth and Grimbardun Smith life leech and affliction. My opponent has given the life leech and affliction on Venka and Infernal Firestorm. Most of mine unit have a higher level including my summoner. So this should be a win.

Ambush round:

Rush Townsend already killed his first unit. great start of this round.

Round 1:

In this round another kill by mine Rush Twonsend such a high damage out that my opponent team is almost already dead before they can strike. Look at the massacre in the first round.

Round 2:

That was a quick match with

Conclusion

Lore is not for everyone, i like the lore and love its in the game it gives an extra depth to the game.
Unfortunately it just doesn't stick in my mind. I also have this with movies can watch one then the next week again without knowing i have already watched itšŸ¤£.
I love the personal touches to the game like units as Rush Townsend and Reklah.

If there are more personal stories with cards i would like to hear them share them in the comments or on the people guild podcast like breakingbenjamin did.
