PositionNameDescription
1Pelacor ConjurerIt is the main tank with the Flying ability and is expected to be the second last to be taken down due to its health with respect to the rest of the cards.
2Corsair BosunThis is an important card with the Reflection Shield ability, which means it is not affected by the Thorns in this ruleset. It also has a high Melee attack of 4 and has the Reach ability to attack from position 2.
3Dax ParagonIt's meant to bypass some shields to help take out low health monsters.
4Pelacor ArbalestIt takes good advantage of the Equal Opportunity ruleset with its Double Strike ability and 3 damage, and helps to take out the weak opponents fast.
5UraeusIt has only 2 health and is expected to be second in the deck to take damage. Hopefully, the shield will let it last at least 2 hits.
6Soul FiendtWith only 1 health, it was meant to be the first to attract damage and distract the opponent.

Strategy

The Equal Opportunity ruleset meant that the Monsters with the lowest health will be targeted first. As such, the deck should contain cards with health lower than the main damage dealers, to maximise the damage output. The second ruleset, Briar Patch, puts Melee Monsters at a disadvantage. For this ruleset, Corsair Bosun in is a great card as it's not affected by it. Dax Paragon is a low cost card used to bypass shields in its attack and Pelacor Arbalest to do high damage and take out the opponents weaker cards first. Uraeus and Soul Fiend are meant to be sacrifice to allow Corsair Bosun and Pelacor Arbalest to do their work.

The opponent opted to use the summoner Owster Rotwell, which rendered Dax Paragon ineffective with its Magic Reflect abililty. He also used Night Ghoul with the Taunt ability in the first position, which meant that the Equal Opportunity ruleset was not that useful for me. Luckily for me, I had a good sensing about the order of cards which I'll be attacked. Corsair Bosun and Pelacor Arbalest were the last standing cards, and damage from them was key to winning this battle, as they provided the high damage to take out the opponent's cards.

Thoughts on the card

The Dax Paragon is a fairly weak card with low damage and low health. However, it is also a low cost card that's great for use in low mana battles. At level 2, with the Amplify ability, it will be great for rulesets such as Briar Patch, Counterspell and Return Fire, as the reflected damage will be doubled. It's unfortunate that I didn't have a level 2 version, as that might have made this battle easier.
