The first rays of sunshine woke up the inhabitants of the beautiful blue forest who could not imagine the big surprise that awaited them!
Their little home woke up in shock with big news and the normally quiet streets at that time of the morning were in an uproar.
Squirrels could be seen whispering on a street corner and two lively turtles were sitting in the cafeteria. Also in the bakery very early in the morning were daddy elephant and his friends, which was very strange because everyone knew his reputation as a sleepyhead, so there was definitely something very, very important going on in the blue forest to get daddy elephant out of bed so early!
Meanwhile, at papa elephant's house, Lulu, as usual, when she woke up, went to her parents' room and was surprised not to find him in bed because he used to sleep very late, especially on Saturdays.
"How strange, where could he be?" thought Lulu very intrigued and determined to find him, she looked all over the house and when she confirmed that he was not there, she quickly looked out the window to see, very surprised, daddy elephant talking happily with daddy skunk and daddy groundhog.
Looking out the window little Lulu began to notice something very strange, her quiet little town looked very different that morning "ummm, something strange is going on here and I must find out what it is" thought the little elephant. So with a lot of curiosity she took her blue hat and went out ready to find out the big mystery!
That was definitely a job for her! As soon as she opened the door she bumped into Mama Woodchuck and Mama Beaver who were so distracted talking that they didn't see Lulu, tripping over one of her paws and suddenly falling to the floor.
"Oh, I'm so sorry" said Lulu when she saw what happened, "I didn't see you coming! But since you're here, could you tell me what's going on?"
Mama groundhog who was still on the ground shaking her gray hat while she sat up just said "there's a new family in the Blue Forest" and hurried to catch up with Mama beaver who had already gotten up and was heading to the cafeteria.
Those words only made Lulu's curiosity grow! "A new family in the Blue Forest, what a strange thing" she kept repeating over and over again in her head without being able to take another step. "How could such a thing happen?" she thought. Lulu could not believe it.
So she went forward determined to find out what was behind all this and approached the only person who could clear up all her doubts. Katy, the squirrel! She knew all the secrets of the little Blue Forest, so if anyone knew what had happened it was her!
Katy was gathered in the corner knifing with two other squirrels whose reputation for gossip was known throughout the town. When little Lulu approached them, they immediately stopped talking.
She greeted them very kindly as usual, making a sort of bow with her long trunk, which consisted of stretching it out and picking it up while uttering an affectionate and loud "Hello!".
Without delay she turned to Katy and questioned her about what was going on, and although at first she refused to talk like a good gossip she ended up telling everything! And that's how Lulu found out what was going on. She turned around and went back home to tell her mom the surprising news.
"Mom, mom" shouted Lulu as she ran into the house, throwing the door behind her and making a loud noise as she entered. She looked for her mom in every room until she found her in the kitchen busy with the breakfast pancakes.
"You won't believe it mom, something wonderful has happened!" announced Lulu as her mom turned to look at her curiously waiting for an explanation to such an uproar.
She told her in detail everything the little squirrels told her; that during the night Mr. Owl gathered the great council to discuss something very important and "Guess what mom, you'll never guess. There is a new family in the Blue Forest!" said Lulu.
Mama Elephant couldn't believe it, she turned off the stove and leaving her apron she went out into the street very worried.
Lulu stood in the kitchen wondering what all the fuss about the new arrivals was about, if she thought the news was fabulous! It had been a long time since anyone new arrived in the Blue Forest. She couldn't wait to meet them!
"I hope they have lots of children to play with" thought Lulu as she spread peanut butter on a delicious heart-shaped pancake. She couldn't get the news out of her mind, she wondered what this new family would be like, how many children they would have and where they would live.
A few minutes later mom and dad returned and a very curious little elephant was greeting them with many questions! "Where, do they live, do they have children, how many, what kind of animals are they and most importantly, why does everyone seem to be worried about their arrival? " asked Lulu very anxiously.
Mom and dad looked at each other worriedly and finally dad spoke.... "Lulu" he said in a soft voice, "have you noticed that in the forest the trees are blue as well as all the flowers and even the grass is blue?" To which Lulu answered in the affirmative.
"Well honey" continued papa elephant, "it hasn't always been like this, the Blue Forest is a magical place, even the air here is different and that's why it must be protected. You must also have noticed that it has been a long time since new neighbors have come to our home and that is exactly why"
"They decide who can enter and who can't and yesterday after many hours of discussion they allowed a small family of rabbits to enter". He finished saying.
Lulu could not believe it, she listened dumbfounded to every word her father said. "And if so, what color were they?" thought Lulu without understanding anything of what her father was saying, and much less about the magic, that seemed completely crazy!
How could the Blue Forest be a magical place if she didn't notice anything extraordinary, it seemed like an ordinary place, with nothing special. But how wrong our little elephant was.
Papa Elephant went on to say that a long time ago the Blue Forest was an ordinary place as she thought but one day it was visited by a group of Fairies who, noticing how special its inhabitants were, decided to give them a great gift and sprinkled their beautiful forest with blue Fairy dust, immediately dyeing all the plants blue.

The day could only get better and she knew exactly how. She was going to meet these new neighbors! So in her little pink basket she put some fruits and went out very determined to welcome them.
All the way there she kept thinking about what these neighbors would be like. She had only seen rabbits in school books but never a real one so she was really excited.
She knocked gently on the door and a little white bunny appeared, as white as snow, whom she greeted as usual and introduced herself "Hi, I'm Lulu and I want to welcome you to the Blue Forest" she said while offering her the pink basket.
Immediately a little white bunny, with the most beautiful skirt Lulu had ever seen, appeared behind the bunny, waved shyly and disappeared immediately!
Before long she returned accompanied by her mother, who was as white as her children. Long ears, a wet pink nose and very intense red eyes! Yes, big red eyes. Lulu had never seen anything like this before, she was amazed.

Se podía ver a las ardillas cuchicheando en una esquina y dos tortugas muy animadas sentadas en la cafetería. También en la pastelería desde muy temprano se encontraban papá elefante y sus amigos cosa que resultaba muy rara porque todos conocían su fama de dormilón así que definitivamente algo muy muy importante estaba sucediendo en el bosque azul para sacar de la cama tan temprano a papá elefante!
Mientras tanto, en casa de papá elefante, Lulú como de costumbre, al despertar, fue al cuarto de sus padres y se sorprendió al no encontrarlo en la cama pues solía dormir hasta muy tarde, sobre todo el sábado.
"Qué raro, dónde estará?" pensó Lulú muy intrigada y decidida a encontrarlo buscó por toda la casa y al confirmar que no estaba, rápidamente se asomó por la ventana para ver muy sorprendida a papá elefante conversando alegremente con papá zorrillo y papá marmota.
Mirando por la ventana la pequeña Lulú comenzó a notar algo muy extraño, su pequeño y tranquilo pueblo lucía muy diferente ésa mañana "ummm, algo raro pasa aquí y debo averiguar qué es" pensó la elefantita. Así que con mucha curiosidad tomó su gorrito azul y salió dispuesta a averiguar el gran misterio!
Definitivamente ése era un trabajo para ella! Apenas abrió la puerta se tropezó con mamá marmota y mamá castor quienes iban tan distraídas conversando que no vieron a Lulú, tropezando así con una de sus patas, cayendo de manera repentina al suelo.
"Oh! Cuánto lo siento" dijo Lulú al ver lo sucedido, "no las ví venir! Pero ya que están aquí me podrían decir qué sucede?"
Mamá marmota quien se encontraba aún en el suelo sacudiendo su sombrero gris mientras se incorporaba sólo dijo "hay una nueva familia en el Bosque Azul" y se apresuró a alcanzar a mamá castor quien ya se había levantado y se dirigía a la cafetería.
Ésas palabras sólo lograron que la curiosidad de Lulú creciera! "Una nueva familia en el Bosque Azul, qué cosa rara" repetía una y otra vez en su cabeza sin lograr dar un paso más. "Cómo pudo suceder algo así?" pensó. Lulú no lo podía creer.
Así que avanzó determinada a descubrir qué había detrás de todo esto y se acercó a la única persona que podía aclarar todas sus dudas. Katy, la ardilla! Ella conocía todos los secretos del pequeño Bosque Azul, así que si alguien sabía qué había sucedido era ella!
Katy estaba reunida en la esquina cuchilleando con otras dos ardillas cuya fama de chismosas era conocida por todo el pueblo. Quienes al acercarse la pequeña Lulú dejaron de hablar de inmediato.

Le contó con detalle todo lo que las ardillitas le dijeron; que durante la noche el Señor Búho reunió al gran consejo para discutir algo muy importante y "adivina mamá, nunca lo podrás imaginar. Hay una nueva familia en el Bosque Azul!" dijo Lulú.
Mamá elefante no lo podía creer, apagó la estufa y dejando su delantal salió a la calle muy preocupada.
Lulú se quedó parada en la cocina preguntándose por qué tanto alboroto por los recién llegados si a ella la noticia le parecía fabulosa!! Hace muchísimo tiempo no llegaba nadie nuevo al Bosque Azúl. No podía esperar a conocerlos!
"Ojalá tengan muchos niños para jugar" pensó Lulú mientras untaba mantequilla de maní a una deliciosa panqueca en forma de corazón. No podía alejar de su mente la noticia, se preguntaba cómo sería está nueva familia, cuántos hijos tenían y dónde iban a vivir.
A los pocos minutos papá y mamá regresaron y una muy curiosa elefantita los recibía llena de muchas preguntas! "Dónde, viven, tienen niños, cuántos son, qué tipo de animales son y lo más importante, por qué todos parecen estar preocupados por su llegada?!" pregunto Lulú muy ansiosa.
Mamá y papá se miraron preocupados y por fin habló papá... "Lulú" le dijo con voz suave, "has notado que en el bosque los árboles son azules al igual que todas las flores e incluso la hierba es azul?" A lo que Lulú respondió afirmativamente.
"Pues bien cariño" continúo papá elefante, "no siempre ha sido así, el Bosque Azul es un lugar mágico, hasta el aire aquí es diferente y por eso debe ser protegido. También debes haber notado que hace mucho tiempo no llegan nuevos vecinos a nuestro hogar y es justamente por eso".
"El encargado de cuidarlo es el gran consejo ellos deciden quien puede entrar y quién no y ayer después de muchas horas de discusión han permitido la entrada a una pequeña familia de conejos". Terminó diciendo.
Lulú no lo podía creer escuchaba boquiabierta cada palabra que decía su papá. "Acaso había árboles de otro color que no fuese azúl? Y si era así qué color tenían?" pensaba Lulú sin comprender nada de lo que decía su papá y mucho menos lo de la magia eso sí parecía una completa locura!
Cómo podía ser el Bosque Azul un lugar mágico si ella no notaba nada extraordinario, le parecía un lugar común y corriente, sin nada especial. Pero cuan equivocada estaba nuestra pequeña elefantita.
Papá elefante continuó diciendo que mucho tiempo atrás el Bosque Azul era un lugar común y corriente como ella pensaba pero un día fue visitado por un grupo de Hadas que al notar lo especial de sus habitantes decidieron hacerles un gran regalo y rociaron todo su hermoso bosque con polvillo azul de Hadas tiñendo de inmediato todas las plantas de color azul.
Los habitantes del bosque no podían creer lo que veían, los árboles, las plantas, las flores, todo, absolutamente todo era Azul! Muchos se enojaron por la falta de colores pero poco a poco descubrieron el gran regalo que les habían dado las pequeñas Hadas azules!
Desde que todo era azul comenzaron a pasar cosas muy extrañas en el bosque. De manera sorprendente a partir de ése momento cada deseo se hacía realidad y todos estaban mucho más felices incluso los malhumorados puercoespines sonreían sin parar y así poco a poco fueron apreciando la belleza de su nuevo hogar azul.
Al conocerse la noticia de ése mágico lugar muchos quisieron ir, pero no todos tenían buenas intenciones y así fue como nació el Gran Consejo. Debían proteger su lugar especial.
Por eso estudiaban con mucho cuidado a todo aquel que quería vivir en el y ésa noche tan especial le dieron el sí, a una familia de conejitos muy peculiar!
Lulú no podía estar más feliz con la noticia, vivía en un lugar mágico!! Mágico como en los cuentos de Hadas, "qué podía ser más maravilloso que éso!?" pensó. Y además una nueva familia, una NUEVA familia!!!
El día sólo podía mejorar y ella sabía perfectamente cómo. Iría a conocer a éstos nuevos vecinos! Así que en su cestita rosa guardó algunas frutas y salió muy determinada a darles la bienvenida.
En todo el camino no dejaba de pensar en cómo serían éstos vecinos. Sólo había visto conejos en los libros de la escuela pero nunca uno de carne y hueso así que estaba realmente emocionada.
Tocó la puerta con suavidad y apareció un pequeño conejito blanco, tan blanco como la nieve a quien saludó como de costumbre y se presentó "Hola, soy Lulú y quiero darles la bienvenida al Bosque Azul" dijo mientras le ofrecía la cesta color rosa.
De inmediato una conejita también de color blanco, con la más hermosa falda que Lulú había visto jamás se asomó detrás del conejito, saludó tímidamente con la mano y desapareció de inmediato!
Al poco tiempo regresó acompañada de su mamá, quien era tan blanca como sus hijos. De largas orejas, una mojadita nariz rosa y ojos rojos muy intensos! Sí, unos grandes ojos rojos. Lulú jamás había visto algo así, estaba maravillada.
Mamá conejo la hizo pasar y agradeció por la dulce bienvenida y la deliciosa cesta de regalo. Lulú extrovertida como de costumbre no esperó para presentarse y preguntar a cada quien su nombre.
El pequeño conejito con una dulce voz dijo "Roger, mucho gusto", por su parte mamá coneja tenía el nombre perfecto para ella, se llamaba "Nieve" y dirigiéndose a la conejita quien permanecía en silencio Lulú preguntó "y tú cómo te llamas?"

Y así fue como dos golpecitos y un salto marcaron el inicio de una gran amistad. Desde ése día Lulú visitaba todas las tardes a su nueva amiga y las horas transcurrían entre juegos y risas.
