Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una serie de fotografías que les realice a dos abuelos en la plaza de mi pueblo, ellos son: Ezequiel y Samuel.
Desde hace unos meses en la Plaza Bolívar de mi pueblo Palo Negro, colocaron unas mesas para que los adultos mayores tuvieran una forma de recrearse jugando ajedrez, por lo que no solo incentivó a los abuelos que ya venían haciendo esa actividad en un local cercano a la plaza llamado Los Tíos, sino que también ha motivado a diferentes jóvenes a unirse y jugar un rato todas las tardes, tanto ajedrez como dominó.
Ezequiel y Samuel, son dos de los señores que frecuentemente se reúnen en la plaza para jugar ajedrez y compartir anécdotas de su juventud. Sus historias logran hacer reír a quienes esperan su turno para jugar.
El día de hoy salí a comprar unas cosas para la casa, decidí sentarme un rato a descansar en la plaza y aproveché para conversar con ellos y verlos mientras jugaban hasta saber cuál de los dos daría el jaque mate.
Así como estaban ellos dos sumamente concentrados jugando esa partida de ajedrez, en otra mesa se encontraban dos jóvenes a quienes también les gusta este juego y están aprendiendo.
A Ezequiel y Samuel los conocí hace tiempo cuando mi mamá trabajaba en la casa de los abuelos. Ezequiel, siempre ha sido un hombre de carácter fuerte, a veces algo malhumorado y muy ocurrente a la hora de expresarse, mientras que el señor Samuel es todo lo contrario. Es un abuelo bastante tranquilo, amable y cariñoso. Ambos tienen una amistad desde hace muchos años y han visto partir a varios de sus compañeros.
Dentro de las pequeñas cosas que conversamos me contaron que extrañan aquellas tardes donde podían compartir todos en la Casa de Los Abuelos y a varios compañeros que ya fallecieron. También dentro de sus historias, salieron a relucir viejos cuentos de amor, donde expresaron que antes para conquistar a una muchacha, no necesitaban esos teléfonos de ahora, solo con tener seguridad y tratarlas bien, era suficiente para invitarlas a bailar o reunirse a escuchar boleros.
Se me hizo muy lindo poder compartir un rato con ellos y me parece una excelente idea que hayan tomado la iniciativa de hacerles este espacio a estos abuelos para que puedan encontrarse en un lugar tan común en el pueblo como lo es nuestra Plaza Bolívar. Esto los motiva a estimular su mente a través de estos juegos y a socializar con sus compañeros, ya que alguno de ellos se encuentran solos en casa o no tienen a una persona con quien poder pasar un rato agradable.

Nota: Les debo el cuento de quién ganó porque cayó un palo de agua que nos corrió de la plaza jejeje.

Ezequiel and Samuel are two of the gentlemen who frequently gather in the plaza to play chess and share anecdotes of their youth. Their stories make people laugh as they wait their turn to play.
Today I went out to buy some things for the house, I decided to sit down for a while to rest in the square and I took the opportunity to talk with them and watch them while they played until I knew which of the two would give checkmate.
Just as the two of them were highly concentrated playing that game of chess, at another table were two young men who also like this game and are learning it.
I met Ezequiel and Samuel a long time ago when my mother worked at my grandparents' house. Ezequiel has always been a man with a strong character, sometimes a bit moody and very witty when it comes to expressing himself, while Mr. Samuel is the opposite. He is a very calm, kind and affectionate grandfather. The two have been friends for many years and have seen several of their classmates leave.
Among the little things we talked about, they told me that they miss those afternoons when they could all share at the Casa de Los Abuelos and several companions who have passed away. Also within their stories, old tales of love came to light, where they expressed that before to conquer a girl, they did not need those telephones of today, just to be confident and treat them well, it was enough to invite them to dance or meet to listen to boleros.
It was very nice to be able to share some time with them and I think it is an excellent idea that they have taken the initiative to make this space for these grandparents so that they can meet in a place as common in the town as our Plaza Bolivar. This motivates them to stimulate their minds through these games and to socialize with their peers, since some of them are alone at home or do not have a person with whom they can spend a pleasant time.
