Antes que nada cordiales saludos a los miembros de la comunidad de #Holos-Lotus, hoy estoy participando de esta iniciativa, desarrollada por la compañera @damarysvibra y cuya invitación me llegó a través de la compañera @alicia2022.
Esta iniciativa se me hace muy interesante, y de hecho, cuando pensé: ¿Quién soy yo en el reino animal? La primera imagen que me llegó fue la del oso frontino. Y me dio mucha risa realmente, debido a que me recordé del tiempo en el que estuve en el seminario y de la importancia espiritual que tiene el oso, tanto en la visión cristiana, así, como en la visión de las comunidades indígenas, además de la europea, la rusa y la asiática.
Al recordarme de eso, me di cuenta de que hay muchas de esas características, que posee el oso, que son muy cercanas a mi personalidad, y de hecho, de ahí viene mi apodo.
Así que también vino a mi memoria, la razón por la cual el Padre Antonio, un excelente presbítero de la casa de San Vicente de Paúl y un gran amigo, me puso el seudónimo de “oso”, ya que me gustaba mucho la soledad y la espiritualidad contemplativa.
Además, él planteaba, que yo tenía la característica de protección de un oso, ya que siempre estaba pendiente de prestar atención a los feligreses más vulnerables y marginados en nuestras comunidades. Por eso no le extraño, cuando a mediados de los años 90, decidí irme a las zonas indígenas, como Misionero Seglar Capuchino.
Recuerdo mucho que conversamos antes de irme, y una de las cosas que me dijo, fue que, al igual que los osos, yo siempre me iba a amover en busca de mi alimento espiritual, hasta conseguir que la espiritualidad me llenara completa y plenamente.
En Perijá, en el Estado Zulia, uno de los Frailes, me decía, que me parecía al oso de San Agustín, ya que estaba en una guerra interna conmigo mismo en mi búsqueda espiritual. San Agustín decía algo parecido a esto, en sus reflexiones sobre las virtudes, ahí, San Agustín comparaba la lucha del cristiano en contra del pecado y del orgullo, con el enfrentamiento con un oso, enfatizando la importancia del valor y la perseverancia en nuestras batallas espirituales, y las mías eran muy grandes al tratar de dominar mi mal carácter y mi engrandecido orgullo.
Así nació mi apodo del oso, y después el seudónimo, retomó fuerza, cuando practiqué lucha olímpica en la uiniversidad.
Ahora bien, en otras tradiciones no cristianas, como la cultura nativa de los indígenas estadounidenses, el oso representaba, la fuerza, la sabiduría y el elemento protector. Mientras que en la cultura celta, el oso está ligado a la fuerza, la resistencia y la perseverancia, y en China, el oso está ligado a la capacidad de ser peregrino, curar y cuidar.
Por último, diría que el oso, también tiene una representación fuerte, en la armonía, el equilibrio y la hermandad, pero esto se logra, solo cuando el oso domina su ego y su orgullo, y se convierte en generador de paz, armonía y convivencia. Hay una cita bíblica que profundiza algo en este punto, y es la visión de Isaías en el capítulo 11:7, cuando dice: “La vaca y la osa pacerán, juntas acostarán sus crías, el león, como los bueyes, comerá paja”. Este capítulo es una visión sobre la hermandad, la paz y la convivencia.
Finalmente, puedo decir, que me identifico con el oso, ya que tengo y práctico varias de sus cualidades o representaciones espirituales, entre ellas la de ser peregrino en la vía espiritual, lo que me hizo superar la visión limitante de la religión y buscar la verdadera espiritualidad y el encuentro con uno mismo, por otros caminos más conscientes y profundos.
También tengo la cualidad de ser una persona muy protectora, y cuidadora de los familiares y amigos, y también tengo mucha fuerza de carácter, al igual que soy constante y perseverante.
Por último, disfruto mucho de la soledad y de la visión contemplativa, pero no desde una visión religiosa, sino desde una visión activa de la espiritualidad, que busca conscientemente el conocimiento de uno mismo y el encuentro con el eterno, lo que significa un camino de estudio, búsqueda y profundización permanente para lograr avances en el aumento de la consciencia personal y espiritual.
En fin, nada más cercano a mí en el mundo animal que el oso.

This initiative is very interesting to me, and in fact, when I thought: Who am I in the animal kingdom? The first image that came to me was the one of the frontino bear. And it really made me laugh a lot, because it reminded me of the time I was in the seminary and of the spiritual importance that the bear has, both in the Christian vision, as well as in the vision of the indigenous communities, in addition to the European, the Russian and the Asian.
When I was reminded of that, I realized that there are many of those characteristics, that the bear possesses, that are very close to my personality, and in fact, that's where my nickname comes from.
So it also came to my mind, the reason why Father Antonio, an excellent priest of the house of St. Vincent de Paul and a great friend, gave me the pseudonym "bear", because I really liked solitude and contemplative spirituality.
In addition, he argued, that I had the protective characteristic of a bear, since I was always aware of paying attention to the most vulnerable and marginalized parishioners in our communities. That's why I don't miss him, when in the mid-90s, I decided to go to the indigenous areas, as a Secular Capuchin Missionary.
I remember a lot that we talked before I left, and one of the things he told me was that, like the bears, I was always going to move in search of my spiritual food, until spirituality filled me completely and fully.
In Perija, in the State of Zulia, one of the Friars told me that I looked like the bear of St. Augustine, because I was in an internal war with myself in my spiritual search. St. Augustine said something similar to this, in his reflections on the virtues, there, St. Augustine compared the Christian's struggle against sin and pride, with the confrontation with a bear, emphasizing the importance of courage and perseverance in our spiritual battles, and mine were very great in trying to master my bad temper and my magnified pride.
This is how my nickname of the bear was born, and then the pseudonym, regained strength, when I practiced Olympic wrestling at the university.
However, in other non-Christian traditions, such as the native culture of the Native Americans, the bear represented strength, wisdom and the protective element. While in Celtic culture, the bear is linked to strength, endurance and perseverance, and in China, the bear is linked to the ability to be a pilgrim, heal and care.
Finally, I would say that the bear also has a strong representation in harmony, balance and brotherhood, but this is achieved only when the bear dominates his ego and his pride, and becomes a generator of peace, harmony and coexistence. There is a biblical quote that goes into some depth on this point, and it is the vision of Isaiah in chapter 11:7, when he says: “The cow and the bear will graze, they will lay down their young together, the lion, like the oxen, will eat straw.” This chapter is a vision about brotherhood, peace and coexistence.
Finally, I can say that I identify with the bear, since I have and practice several of his qualities or spiritual representations, including that of being a pilgrim on the spiritual path, which made me overcome the limiting vision of religion and seek true spirituality and the encounter with oneself, by other more conscious and profound paths.
I also have the quality of being a very protective person, and a caretaker of family and friends, and I also have a lot of strength of character, as well as I am constant and perseverant.
Finally, I really enjoy solitude and the contemplative vision, but not from a religious perspective, but from an active vision of spirituality, which consciously seeks self-knowledge and the encounter with the eternal, which means a path of study, search and permanent deepening to achieve progress in increasing personal and spiritual awareness.
In short, nothing is closer to me in the animal world than the bear.
