« Crypto Birds », or more popularly « Crypto Birbs », is a project I’ve been following for the last couple of months. I’ve never been a randomly generated NFT collections enthusiastic – on any chain – but some of the Crypto Birbs specificities drove me to cast more than a glance at their process and growing community. ## One of the Nest Teams I could think of
Even if I could prefer a fully doxxed and identified Team, the Crypto Birbs creators have succeeded for the last 2 months in dissipating all doubts about their intentions and their capacities. The CB Discord server is a boiling water cauldron, where a maelstrom of parties, dynamics, riddles, mini games and Birbish humor takes with it even the most jaded NFT collectors. It’s worth stressing that all the core Team members are professional devs : El Chipo founded a futures exchange, Cybird is a senior cyber security analyst and I’ve known dj Birb 2 years ago as an UX / UI builder. These code writing competences empower the Birbs Team to swiftly confront any mishap and to rapidly convert into a reality many Birbies suggestions.
As part of the CB's unique features that profile their ecosystem as a "Play-to-Earn" one, we find a "Play to Mine" mechanism which introduces in the blockchain gaming universe a new consensus and validation p2p mechanism. I'll come back to this aspect in another post, but don't hesitate in reading the project's Light Paper to know more about it.
The mini games belong to this engineering and creative streak : they blow winds of diversity into the Birbs daily activities, entertain us, and allow us – for the nest ones of us – earning Space Eggs (40 accumulated Space Eggs grant us access to minting a Birb).

## Building a Polygon Blue « Chirp » Collection
One of the Crypto Birbs main ambitions is to promote their collection to the « Blue Chip » status, by combining the usual factors which are included in such a pronouncement (high quality art, skilled developers, utility, the project’s floor price, its sales volume, celebrity endorsements, a large and vibrant community,…), but adding to that array of parameters the almost zero fee regime that is fueled by the Polygon chain. The decision of going with the Polygon layer 2 scaling formula on top of the Ethereum blockchain has been intensely discussed among the Birbs, some of them considering that choosing Ethereum itself would increase the project’s chances of success and visibility.
I personally applaud the choice of Polygon. It’s highly probable that more stable and easier to use Ethereum scaling solutions will make it in the cryptosphere in the coming years (and we also know that Hive is unbeatable under those scaling and fees aspects :-)), nevertheless for the time being Polygon may be seen as a handy and popular crossroads between Ethereum maximalists, NFT seasoned collectors and NFT rookies having experienced other chains where transaction fees are almost nonexistent.
My Birb minting process, two days ago, went very smoothly. Each Birb is mintable at the cost of 30 MATIC, which compared to the originally announced price represents a discount in fiat equivalent, thanks to the Team’s honesty : they stuck to the 30 MATIC level after MATIC went down quite hard 2 weeks ago (falling from $2.20 to $1.33, to rebound at its current $1.66 value).
